But here's the fun thing: my wife got one of those i-shaped solar phone chargers / back-up packs. It was given to her by a guy who doesn't even own a BMW - he drives a Tesla S ...

Well if you buy a Jaguar E Type Lightweight, you get LOTS of goodies. Including a bespoke suitcase, painted in your actual car's paint, custom race suit (in customer's size) inside the suitcase. And a model of your car, painted in your actual car's paint. Those are just the things I recall.

I got mine today, blue for blue (pure luck?) but with an apology letter for sending the wrong i3 gift before (which I didn't get). I have to say I would have felt better about my purchase if I had NOT gotten a cheap plastic car....

Same here.

Cheapy model arrived today and mine even had a flaw on the front bumper. BMW should really think through this stuff before doing.

Sounds like their marketing department and customer relations team could use an overhaul and some new leadership.
