Radar Detector ?

Has anyone (fixed) installed a radar detector on their i8s? All my radar detectors have been installed in the hood past. I believe the front hood cannot be opened by other than BMW dealers. Has anyone figured out an alternative?
Thx

I just texted my guy at BMWNA, in the executive suite. Here's his response: "He is asking for some serious frequency issues."

Think he's talking about the electrical interference (RF noise) from the electrical systems under the hood that will screw with the detector.

I have a passport max and haven't had one single problem with interference

Thanks guys. Just to clarify I was asking about an "installed" radar detector like an Escort 9500ci. I can see it causing frequency issues with the battery in the front, altho I never even thought of that . Has anyone tried any other approach??

Has anyone done one of the complete built in ones (with shifters etc) since? I'm thinking of doing one this week either an 8500 or 9500.

Guys any news to add to this thread. I'm looking to transfer my Escort 9500ci from my M6 to my i8 (which should be landing stateside in a couple of weeks). I need to mount 2 laser shifter modules and a radar detection module on the front bumper, a controller module hidden somewhere by the center armrest, a small warning light by the steering wheel and the display by the rearview mirror. Not to mention other stuff like the small speaker that needs to be hidden, possibly under a seat. Here's how it was installed in my M6:

built in radar detector/laser jammers

I have a 2013 M6 with a built in detector and shifters very similar to yours. I am getting my i8 in august/September and I would love to install the same totally installed setup in it. Either new or moved from my M6...I just want built in protection for my i8. I would appreciate anyone who can help...
