Amusing yet candid review on the i8 by Fully Charged
Interesting review. Touches on the beautiful music (part 911 flat six part turbine whine)the i8 produces during its upshifts and downshifts.
While the reviewer recorded 58 mpg in economy mode and 36.4 mpg in sports mode, it would be interesting to find out what mpg our readers are achieving in their cars. For me, have been predominantly in sports mode and averaging 35.8 mpg. |

I'm averaging about 35 mpg (over my first 1500 miles).

MalibuBimmer, that's quite an impressive display of fuel economy there! Are you driving in eco-pro mode most of the time? By the looks of Louv's average mpg, he's either driving in sports mode most of the time or he's doing a lot more throttle blipping than he is leading us to believe. I know..... the sound of the i8's engine coupled with the turbine whine from the motors can be rather intoxicating! |

I think I put it in eco-pro once... by mistake. Seriously, I think I'm in these modes: Comfort: 50% Sports: 30% max-Electric: 20% eco-pro: 0.01%

By looking at the above stats, you must either be driving the i8 like Jeremy Clarkson or using sports mode while sitting in traffic to get it to average 35 mpg. |

Such a different type of review, and had me laughing. Be sure to watch it through to the end....Red Dwarf FTW ...and what do cat's know about cars anyway? |

Glad you enjoyed it. It was worth a good laugh. However, it did leave a slight feeling of bewilderment. Specifically, the reviewer's throttle blip simulation was too eerily similar to the sound the i8 produces. Wonder if we're getting an amplification of the real thing in the i8 or just a brilliant voice over. Either way, it still sounds terrific!

I can let you in on the secret. The i8 is in fact even more advanced than BMW tell everyone.
It is not merely an electric-petrol hybrid, but is also the first bio-mechanical hybrid vehicle in the world. Truly revolutionary next generation technology The engine sound is in fact made by a dwarf German voice impressionist who sits in the sealed compartment with the engine |

82.1 mpg after 4'100 miles (never mind the i3 stuff - bug in the app - it's an i8, I'm quite certain). In eco pro most of the time. Why? Strict speed limits and mostly city commuter driving. I save the real fun for traversing mountain passes or hopping over into Germany.
