I have reached out to some of those outlets to share their sources for this info, because BMW’s internal documentation mentions that LiDAR will be available from 11.2023. Why does this matter? iX doesn’t have LiDAR but BMW claimed more advanced autonomous driving would come with an OTA update. Some folks out there claim that this can only happen with LiDAR hardware on board. No one knows for sure, but even i7 with the claims of “coming equipped with hardware for level 3” is missing LiDAR so there may be hope for iX yet.
