Car doesn't warm up when in full electric mode?

Hi all, I just wanted to confirm if this is normal. Whenever I put the car in sports mode it heats up perfectly fine however any other mode other than that and the matter how high turn up the temperature all I get is cold air coming in. Obviously a big concerned given the English winter that is upon us!

What do you think? Is this an actual fact a problem that I need to get looked into?

Yes, your heat pump/exchanger is broken. It's the only heat source in electric mode. It's a common problem!

Thanks for the quick reply! Getting it booked in in under warranty repair now! Hopefully it's covered!

Is there anything else you can tell me about this issue?

I have a related challenge now...

Does anybody know a London based i8 specialist that they can recommend (that is not the main dealership service centre)?

My warranty covers me to £60+VAT per hour whereas, main dealer charge £200+VAT so I can see already where this will end up!

Any pointers much appreciated.

I picked my i8 up last week and have this issue😩! Are you anywhere near Prestige Cars in Kent? They should be doing this repair for me under warranty so I can let you know their labour rates if you are.

Yes please!

I'm in London but Kent isn't too far!

Are they BMW or independent garage?

Does anyone know how much this would cost to fix? I’m in the south east too.

Apologies on the delay replying. I haven't had the chance to take it down there yet for the repair, happy to still find out their labour rates if anyone needs to know? They are an independent but if you look on their website they work on some decent cars.

Sorry for the delayed response. All sorted. Got it done by BMW. Here was the total cost (don't forget £120 for inspection cost):

Fault Memory Check / Faults stored relating to customer complaint - Auxiliary Electric heater defective causing no heating output in electric mode. Replacement EH + x2 coolant required.

£1,256.62

Hope that helps.
