Cautiously optimistic. Only a test drive will yield a convincing lease / no lease decision.

The dash layout alone is enough for me NOT to buy/lease one. HATE the stuck on iPad look.

I could live with everything else. Though it looks like you would need a very high voltage system to avoid at home charging times to be less than 11 hours

Same here, I liked it more in person too, something about some of the pictures just make it seem a little cheap/dull to me, not sure what it is. This video seems to serve it fairly well.

Looks pretty good as far as electric SUVs go. I like the interior. Also not a fan of iPad slapped on the dash, but the looks better integrated than the Tesla.

The wheels are terrible, but I'm sure there will be better options. I also don't get the huge beaver teeth grille with no functionality.

Overall, in a better color like black or gray, I could see it being a nice commuter. I'll still stick with petrol for now.

Well it seems to be better than the i3 in every way.

Forget going to my cottage...685kms one way. I would probably have to deviate from the main highways at least once adding time to the overall drive up there. Electric is great if you're doing maybe ~200kms daily and coming home (for an 11 hour charge!), but for longer drives, at least for me, battery is not for me. Hopefully someday there will be an affordable electric vehicle that gets 750+kms on a single charge, w/o having to turn everything off in the vehicle to get that kind of range. My opinion, no doubt not the opinion of most

Have to use touchscreen or voice to change the temp. Buttons gone for no reason. He didn’t show having to dig into the menu to do something as simple as change the fan speed. All other buttons capacitive. Usability taking a nosedive.

Hopefully the menu at least has giant buttons like a Tesla so you could actually see them/touch them out of the corner of your eye vs trying to hunt and peck for them.

That or just say "Hey BMW, I'm cold", have it mute the Nav/all audio, wait 30 seconds, and spit back something completely irrelevant.

Question is: Can you change temp via the iDrive controller?

I understand that some folks change the climate controls all the time, but I guess BMW did some market research which showed that most people just set some temperature, put the AC in auto mode and never touch it again, or very rarely.

Adding to my earlier comment. I will be looking for how many functions have been relocated to be touch screen only. Hopefully not too many.

So you probably have to rule out most of future BMWs going forward, as that's the new dash layout for most next LCIs or next gen BMWs.

We can complain all we want, but I fear people are gonna buy this in droves. Sure the X5 is a better car, and the X5 M50i with its howling V8 is priced the same as this, but it won't matter. Everybody has an X5 now, they are too common, this will be the next hot SUV for BMW.

I'm sure this iMinivan is gonna drive like a boat, but if people cared how these SUVs drove then the X5 wouldn't have transformed into a boat for the F15/G05 generations.

A big yawn 🥱…..all the tech bell and whistles are a distraction for the amount of time a full charge will take. For a long "road trip" an iX owner will be driving to the airport and flying, instead of driving. Outside of Cali and Europe with high petrol prices, I see this being a novelty.

I humbly suggest that if BMW were to make a pure electric G05 (the current generation X5), it would sell at an even faster pace.

Speaking of California I just read a story where owners of electric vehicles were asked not to charge their them in order to save electricity and prevent brown outs.

Honestly this is a great idea since they aren't committed to pure electric platforms or adding frunks to their vehicles.

Yep, no one wants to use voice for anything but setting a nav destination.

I don't know about others, but I adjust the temp and fan speed almost every time I drive. Usually it blows too hold or too cold at some point and minor adjustments keep it in line. So I think removing these controls, especially considering they already reduced them to a single strip in current vehicles which would've fit the new aesthetic just fine, is ridiculous.

All climate is on the touchscreen. The buttons around the iDrive knob are still there but all capacitive. How are you supposed to use those without glancing down at them?

That dashboard - if you can call it that- is really repugnant.

The lack of central console and floor communication between driver and passenger reminds me of those cheap trucks from 70s'.

The door rubber can be seen through the window; they should have tinted that area. Looks terrible!

The simplicity of the interior makes it REALLY CHEAP!!!

What an odious interior this car has...
