It was certainly added to mine after this update. My production date was in October 2022. You should get it via OTA sometime this month.

Hey does Apple maps show up on HUD like normal BMW map would ?

Also, does BMW have Augmented Reality in it's HUD like EQS 580 AR HUD ?

No and no. When using Apple maps for nav you only get arrows in the HUD. As for AR Hud I believe the new 5/i5 is the first BMW to offer that feature.

I am sorry if this question is repetitive or already in another thread but what exactly does coding the head unit mean?

Can I code my iX infotainment to look like XM with the blue and red theme? Or is that not possible

Coding is 100% no longer possible on a ‘24 iX. If you have a ‘23 iX that was produced before March of this year, you can make some minor coding modifications to the head unit to disable disclaimers and little things like that. No other modules are accessible. That’s also assuming you have the software to do it. You can use BimmerCode; however, you would have to apply to the developer for the beta version.

No you can't code the head unit. To make it as simple as possible coding means changing the underlying program to do something different then what it is doing now.

To customize the program to provide a different result.

See my previous reply above yours. I can still code my ‘23 iX (even through iDrive 07/2023.45), but only because it was produced before March of this year plus I have the BimmerCode beta. There’s really not much you can do anyway. Disable disclaimers and little things like that. Nothing worthwhile. I tried it on my neighbor’s ‘24 iX and no modules were accessible.

Not anymore. BMW no longer stores the configuration files locally, so there’s nothing to hack. Even if you were able to get your hands on the cloud configuration files, getting them digitally signed and uploaded will present its own challenges. Let’s pretend you can even get past that part…. It will probably prevent you from getting the next software update when the signatures and checksums don’t match.

Coding days are over on iDrive 8+ (head unit only on a 2023 built before March and no modules on a 2024+). It was fun while it lasted…

The above. You are no longer "hacking" the car - you will need to hack BMW. Doable, but at a minimum you probably need to be a nation-state, or associated with. And Germany would be displeased.

The NSA can probably do it for you.

Maybe this is why BMW doesn't allow its cars to use wifi for connectivity to the mothership. It makes local spoofing impossible.

Dropped off my car for the annual winter tire swap this morning, asked if they could update the car to this software version (haven't gotten an OTA since 03.2023.65 months ago). They basically laughed at me and said, unless it's a recall/safety issue they wouldn't do it unless the customer pays.

F'ing dealerships man...

You can’t really blame them though. It takes several hours when they do it manually and they have no way to be reimbursed by BMW unless it can be claimed as warranty.

So basically I'm not getting any more software updates unless BMW starts to push them OTA again or something goes wrong with the vehicle.

I understand this is frustrating, but you are technically on the latest version via OTA. There’s really nothing to be excited about with the July update. The fonts changed and that’s probably all you’re really going to really notice. If your vehicle was built before November 2022, then you will see the manual battery preconditioning option now. Aside from those two things, everything else is minimal. You’re not really missing out on anything.

They updated mine last month only because it had been there for three weeks dealing with my eSIM issue. During that short period of time, they updated me four or five times with two different versions and there’s very few noticeable changes.
