I like the design language, I think the new grill works better on the EV cars, it seems cleaner.

Minus missing some buttons the interior looks pretty nice too. I wouldn't buy this but I am excited to see with the i4 looks like because this seems very close to the concept i4 in execution which I think looks great.

BMW iX is on track to generate more polarizing opinions, comments, impressions, and emphatic statements than the next generation M3/M4 oversized ornamental collection of closely spaced vertical bars.

I look forward to test driving it. So far - it's on the family SUV shopping list.

The only constant is change (while competition is always welcome).

However, the range...oh God please why 300 miles on a vehicle this size? So I guess it will be a competitor of Tesla model X which at the moment has 370 mile range and they talk about some new batteries giving range of 400+. Wondering if BMW will make software upgrades over the air like Tesla improving range and other stuff.
I'm looking for a EV replacement of my X4 and was looking at model Y and secretly hoping that BMW will give us something even better not more expensive. When Tesla start production of model Y in Europe I believe its range would increase to 350 or at least I hope so. Current range of 326 miles for me personally is the very bottom I would look for but at this price is not that bad.
I've been following many EV vloggers and what I have learned is even 300 range is not that bad although it is on the low for me. Usually, what you should look for is your daily commute which it is probably 90% of your trips. On long journeys you can't make 500 miles without a single stop to rest so doesnt really matter as the charging speeds now are high. Personally, when I do long journeys I stop ever 310-370 miles but never done more than a 700 miles trip without stopping for a sleep.
Why is this truly important? We are so preconditioned to always choose whatever is "best".

530hp is better than 500hp.
350 miles is better than 300.
0-60 in 3 seconds is better than 4 seconds.

I'd never purchased an ICE and said "this one gives me 500 miles to the tank, and the other one 350, so the 500 miles one is better".

If 300 mile range is sufficient to you, then there is no argument. Unless you are constantly driving 300-350 miles every day, this should be irrelevant.

This ugly thing will be DOA especially since it will be 2023MY when it launches.

Porsche Taycan is how you design a beautiful EV or even Tesla Model S and X.

This thing has polarizing styling, subpar range and performance compared to Tesla, and will most likely be more expensive. I thought they learned their lesson with the weird i3 and i8?!!!

By your reasoning - why not just drive a Camry or Civic? They have more power than you will ever need and get 35-40mpg.

Human nature is to want the best, fastest etc.

Super Car Blondie.

1. The Washer Fluid filler...haha that's cool.
2. Those rear lights!
3. Speakers in the head rest a la my MX5
4. Carbon Core is back and nice exposed B pillars!
This is how you make the launch cool!

The exterior doesn't wow me, but I don't hate it.

I feel much more positive about the interior. I like the more minimalist design of the dash and I think it looks like quite a nice place to be.

Wow. The interior! Amazing.
I think I can get used to the exterior. Better than expected and far better than the concept.

wait i thought they were trying to make the new m3/m4 unique and distinctive from other BMW models by adding in those hideous grills? guess that just means all new models will look like this... this company has lost its way with styling.

In a good color (like this red) I think it really works, including the front end. I will highly consider this when I've worn out my X3M... if the driving dynamics are right.

What in the name of God is BMW doing to their cars. I guess they hate selling so many cars.

I think if BMW creates a M version it will have the kind of performance to rival its competitors. 0-62 in 5 seconds for a new electric SUV will be laughed at by Tesla. It's not even close. 300 mile range is also not enough to compete. I just don't understand why BMW can't do better than this. Hopefully the BMW i4 will have at least close to comparable range to the Tesla and have the performance to match as well although this is unlikely.

To me the difference between BMW EVs and Tesla comes down to performance and quality. Choose one and you've chosen which manufacturer.

But why is a 0-60 time of 3 seconds a benchmark? Who needs that in real life? I rather have a 0-60 in 5 seconds which is extremely quick for this vehicle and bump the range to 350-360.
It's a benchmark because it was done. I can appreciate you don't need it or want it, but for me, after doing 3 seconds to 60 in my my F90 M5, I don't want to go back to a 4 or 5 seconds to 62 car. I would prefer faster. Just like I don't want to go back to owning a car without navigation, or a car with the basic sound system.

Plus it doesn't go 350-360 miles. It's range is said to be 300. So it's slower and the range is less.

Do you really use the useless Navigation in your car? Google maps is free and much "faster".

If you resort to an extremist behavior like this, then yes, you can enjoy being right about it. But I think my point was clear and logical.
