Brit Bands

You know you're old if you can remember who the band Slade is (or was). While growing up the U.K. during the 60s, 70s, and early 80s I saw Brit Bands from back in those days become huge worldwide. Some of Slade's major hits are now almost 50 years old! Here's one from 1973!
.

.
Then there was Sweet also from 1973.. Ballroom Blitz..
.

.
Dang does it seem like 50 years went by quick or what?

Quiet Riot did that song as well. That's the version I remember. Mid-80s.

I remember reading how Quiet Riot hated that song:

Quote:
Frankie Banali has revealed the lengths Quiet Riot went to in the hope of sabotaging their cover of the Slade song "Cum On Feel the Noize," saying that they set out to make the recording an “intentional train wreck.” ... "I didn't care one way or the other, but Kevin despised the song.May 25, 2017

PS - I like Quiet Riot's version best.

I'm sure that lawsuits because the shift lever was a crash hazard played into that decision.....

Not only that lever. When our consumer product safety commission came around to address bicycle safety, the Chopper's chainguard didn't meet spec (not enough chain coverage) for single chainring bikes. It failed in other areas but the shift lever and chainguard were the two most notable.

I think I heard supercharger whine.

My "stingray" bike was a knockoff -- the Schwinns were expensive and it was my second bike, bought with summer job money. I wanted to do wheelies and beat the heck out of it, and that's what happened. Seat risers both broke once and slapped me down onto the rear tire! Near disaster.

So it finally happened. Went to pickup a piece of furniture and the kid (21 years old) hoofing the box in my car took a step back and said .... "What kind of car is this man????". I said I bet you never heard of it, it's a Saab. "A what now". Saab. BLANK STARES. Cool car man, cool car.

It's a 2008!

When I was stationed in Germany in the mid-80s, the DMark/Dollar exchange rate was incredible. It got to 3.74DM per dollar at one point. The PX Saab dealer would sell you a Saab 900S or 900 Turbo in DMarks, so it was cheap as hell for GIs. The deal included a paid trip to Sweden to watch your car being built and then you drove it back to Germany. Our unit had lots of Saabs in the parking lot.
