2019 BMW 330i  [0.00]
Just received this email from one of the local dealers (So-Cal)

Last Call on i4 and iX Pre-Orders

This is your last chance to get in under the wire and save $1000 off MSRP.

Pre-orders for the iX close on November 11th, with the Build Your Own site going live same day.
Pre-orders for the i4 close on November 18th, with the Build Your Own site going live same day.
Once pre-orders close, we will open a will-call list if you're interested in knowing when dealership inventory becomes available in late 2022.

If you preorder and I4, you get $1000 off MSRP?

The 18th is what my dealer told me a few weeks ago for being able.to place my order config.

I don't know anything about $1k off though. BMW is offering 1.9% financing. Normally I use my credit union but at 1.9% I'll use them.

It's only good on pre-orders.

I’m in the uk and placed my order in august, I’ve been chasing a build date since then, the last thing I was told (last week) was BMW would be allocating slots after the 18th November (launch date).

Are all cars worldwide being built in the same factory for this model?

From what I've read the i4 is made is Munich on the same line that makes the regular (gas powered) 3 series variants. The article talks about the investments that BMW had to make to the 3 series line to accommodate the i4. The article does not talk about other plants where they made a similar investment. I'm guessing that for now i4 is Munich only. Maybe when the volume justifies it they will enable the other 3 series factories to make the i4. I wonder what BMW is forecasting for annual production of the i4. With the arrangement they have they can in theory swap regular 3 series production for i4 production seamlessly.

how shitty is it that HUD and decent audio are "options" not included in any package.

I'm using the android app so the attachment didn't show up.

I'm now looking on my computer.
Comparing the Canadian pricing and configuration we are also being screwed.

Canadian dollar is about 80% of US dollar but options cost about the same.

Also no leather dash option.

The leather dash (4M5) can be ordered via Individual. Consult your dealer for VIP Ordering Specialist assistance.

Thanks.

I wrote that down. I'll also ask about the piano black trim.

It looks like the build sheet (besides unique i4 stuff) is the same as the regular 440 grand coupe. I guess that makes it easy, except for the HUD.

I'm thinking my option list because it also adds to the cost of registration. I'm in California and they charge tax and license based on purchase.

I don't know if I want to pay $2800 for the carbon + 10% and the additional cost on registration every year. So I think the carbon exterior trim is out.

I'm in the same boat. On top of there potentially being no federal tax credit for the i4, and California's being cut in half, this purchase has gotten more expensive than I initially intended.

I originally put in a preorder for both eDrive40 and M50 in case this would happen, but it makes me quite sad because I was looking forward to my first M car. Unfortunate.

I won't get the California money anyway.
I've already got it for two EVs and that's the limit.
I was able to get it on the last car because my daughter is on title as it's her car.

The federal tax credit sucks, but I'm hoping they get rid of the state and local tax cap of $10k.

The M50 is looking more expensive but I decided to dump the carbon fiber exterior package. $2800+tax+impact on registration fees. So save about $3500.

Adding everything up my build is about $77k.
I can live with it because the out the door price with tax and lic will be about $86k

typically those options are wrapped up in a "package" that gives a bit of a discount, making them all a la carte means paying more IMO
