I noticed the US configurator does not show the expected range. If you use the German one here, it will show you the impact of each option you select. Might be good to know for some of you.

You are aware this thing is the size of an X5, has even more luxury, more features, and has almost the same space? So basically this is an electric X5, not an X3 (that would be the iX3 lol).

You can argue about the looks, but from a pure technological or luxury POV the iX beats the X5 easily. From what I can tell (only sat in the iX for a couple minutes) I'd say the passenger space is on par to the X5, just the boot capacity is a bit lower due to the battery/rear electric motor.

It hasn't yet been EPA rated but I would think BMW would add the range to the site once it is rated.

Haters are gonna hate. If you like what the iX offers and have the money, why not? It's your money.

There are some strange comments in here. The iX is superior to the X5 in almost every conceivable way, unless you must have an internal combustion engine.

The one option that is a must have for me on the iX is the Stonegrey Microfiber/Wool Blend interior. I wish BMW offered premium textile interiors on all their models as I consider it an upgrade over leather.

My initial build: https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...7nzz4f/summary

.. and that's why the jury on iX is still deliberating. I am waiting for iX vs X5 sales statistics.

I believe I might go with the wool seats as well. Except I'll go with diamond white on the exterior.

What do you find more luxurious in the X5 than in the iX?

Better looking? sure. I agree that the current X5 is very nice looking and probably better looking in most viewing angles than the iX. You may also prefer the interior look of the X5. That's also ok, it is a nice interior.

More features? which ones? I am not saying there aren't any (there are) but I am curious as to which ones you actually care about. The ones I am aware of are either gimmicks that I don't care much for personally or something we don't really use often (i.e. my X5 has heated/cooled cup holders that I don't think are available in the iX, it has peasant blockers in the back, etc.).

More space? The iX has noticeably more space in the cabin for occupants, less space in the trunk than an X5. The cabin space is something you and/or passengers can benefit from all the time, but maybe you personally need the extra trunk space and if that's the case, sure the iX is a no go for you.

FWIW when I build a new X5 (i.e. nearly fully equipped, with the V8) comparable to the iX I keep building, they end up pretty much at the same pricepoint. It is perhaps not a perfect match in terms of equipment/power but close enough. If you dont care about having V8 levels of power, then it does cost about 10k more than a comparable X5 40i since we can't get a less powerful iX.

On the other hand...there's this thing
if you compare a well equipped iX to a X5M with no options, sure they are the same MSRP. A standard equipment iX is 83k USD compared to the X5M at 105k USD.

If you add some options (not performance ones) to that X5M to get it more in line with a decent iX, it will be in the 115k USD range. Still not a huge difference and if you are looking for a "snarling, fire breathing beast" then you should indeed go for the X5M. That is not what the iX is trying to be.

Yes, for BEV, many customers prefer vegan.

Personally, with the sensatec alternative to real leather, I wouldn't mind. It's pretty good.

Is it a lot of $s? For some this sort of sticker is a big deal. For others it is not a concern. The people that are going to buy this car most likely don't care about the price. If you want an EV, and are sick of seeing a Tesla more frequently than a Starbuck's store, and love excellent German engineered vehicles, then this might be for you.

If you haven't seen it in person, you don't know that it is much roomier inside that an X3 or an X5.

LOL… Not this BEV owner…. I’m all about cow…. To eat and to line the interior of my chariot

The interior of my Tesla is OK, but I really do miss the feel and wear of the leather.

Yeah, I understand. For such a vehicle, it should be a no extra cost choice IMHO.

Looks are subjective. I can see a case to say the X5 is more luxurious, but this car has some things the X5 doesn't.

However one thing cannot be debated is space. The X5 is smaller and has less space.

Interesting….. the order guide shows it wont be available until 3/22…. Must have problems sourcing the raw material for the paint.

For the difference of the cost between an iX and an equivalent ICE car you can buy for 20 years of gas! No charging time waiting for nothing, no electric connection for the charging station at home (around 2000$ if you current electric panel is designed for, etc.) ...

What car are you comparing to? iX's price is quite comparable to X5 M50i - 20years of gas? No clue how you come up with that calculations.

And I would gladly take home charging over visiting gas stations a few hundred times over the life of the vehicle BY FAR!
