Expected discount on used coupe from dealer - UK ?
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy an approved used from a BMW dealer in the UK. Looking at a 2018 / 68 plate onwards. They start from £58,000 upwards. Some have been reduced over their lives, some being £5000 more to start listed some 6 months ago and still haven't sold. What sort of discount could be expected for cars in the £60,000 range (either outright cash, warranty, servicing etc?) Thanks! |

Not sure about the UK but in the US used car prices are increasing due to new stock shortages and lowered trade-ins so there isnt much of a discount to be had. I'd personally wait until 2021 and when COVID is over to buy. I've heard theories of i8 appreciation but it's not going to happen. I also dont think a 2018 model exists. Given current trends 1 year from now 2017 will be under 60 and 2019 will be under 90

On a 60k car, I'd be offering a starting number of 53k, expecting to agree on maybe 56k.
I got from 61k down to 56 on a similar i8 in the UK from a main dealer. But it took a few weeks. Hope that helps. |

Thanks! They've offered to chuck in a £150 cable so I might look elsewhere...
A 68 plate was snapped up within hours - at £52,000, indie dealer. Also another at £55,000 - indie dealer reckoned they could have got £57,000 but wanted quick sale. So £56 might be ambitious. Others seem to be around £55-60 though. Just unsure if should stick with BMW dealer or go with indie if they all have manufacturer 1 year warranty left anyway! |

You have to have a couple of cars in the bmw network. Badger those dealerships, get to the point that you are ready to buy then gave a last push to get them to sell their one.
'I"m going to buy the other one at the weekend unless you can do something to help me buy yours'. |

Hi I bought a delivery mileage 69 plate roadster and got offered no discount. Had to haggle hard for £500 off. Tried for cable..nope. Discount..nope. Was basically told the same as you guys that the car was already discounted.
In hindsight could and possibly should have held off as there are quite a few low miles roadsters out there. |

Hi Molar no it was Sytner and they have several roadsters in stock all low miles just different colour and trims.
I wanted the exterior sound, carbon fibre trim and grey inserts with ivory interior but finding the exact spec was difficult so no discounts etc They have several all available but no difference in price from when I originally looked in April. Look at a 7 series? That makes no sense at all! Completely different cars. I did consider, albeit very briefly, an 8 series as an alternative as I was upgrading from a 640d. But they are completely different. Last edited by Rob1910; 07-15-2020 at 02:45 PM.. |

Prices seem to be bombing a bit as this year goes by. |
