Lexus Article and the New Concept of Lift Throttle Oversteer???

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2010...NEWS/100419963

I saw this today and just laughed....I understand that the electronic goodies are wonderful additions to driving a car and make the car substantially safer but the first line of defense starts with the driver...have we forgotten this concept...its nothing new I thought

Oh and Lexus is providing loaners if anyone has an affected vehicle lol

When I first saw the video of that thing sliding out of control on the skid pad I immediately thought "this is the world's first production luxury SUV drifting machine!!!" lol

Lift off oversteer can happen in any vehicle, though I imagine a large, heavy SUV is more susceptible as all that weight swings from rear to front. What I'm curious about is why Toyota's traction control system can't handle it.

from the article it appears the traction control kicks in too late to intervene and a spin results...but still in that big of an suv you probably shouldnt be going that fast in a tight turn

Its pretty ridiculous if you ask me. If you throw any car into a turn too fast of course there will be a roll hazard. If you watch the drift in the video its super controlled too. Its more like a feature than a hazard if you ask me lol

In all seriousness though I'm sick of the government intervening in this kind of stuff. I almost think the recent attacks on Toyota are some kind of conspiracy to boost US auto maker sales.

That's the puzzler.

The Toyota traction control (ie. the 4Runner) works just fine....but the Lexus traction control doesn't on the same platform with the same electronics in the GX?

LOL. They are trying to be the new Buick but instead of a few decades, they will do it in a few weeks.
