The original is considered a Masterpiece. This remake has a powerhouse of:

It will be... EPIC

Looking forward to this one. Big fan of the book and the earlier one by David Lynch was excellent as well.

Gives me chills. I only hope this is popular enough so he can do as many as he would like. Children and then God Emperor please! I think the hardest part about DUNE is there is just so much internal dialog and explanations in the book which you just can't do with film. Like how much time can you go into each house, the history, the bene gesserit, etc. before boring the audience? Only a hardcore DUNE fan would appreciate but it adds so much to the story.

The books were amazing. The amount of lore is only second to what Tolkien created. Hell maybe more there was a DUNE encyclopedia after all and more books.

The Pink Floyd cover song goes so well.

This is one to see in the movie theater folks!

I kind of wish Patrick Stuart, Sting, and Max von Sydow were given a cameos roles. Who knows maybe they will?

This makes the new Wonder Woman and the new Batman look like a shit sandwich. Seriously.

Can't wait for this. Huge Fan.

People hate on the Lynch "version" but I saw it as a kid and still enjoy it. Stellar cast.

Edit: Dune and Floyd. Doesn't get any better for me!

Great post. Read Dune in HS before any movie. Immediately got hooked due to the richness of characters, plot and vast universe he painted. I've read all the books including his son Brian's continuation working with K. Anderson.

Pink Floyd Eclipse is a nice touch for the trailer too.

I'm a book nerd, and have never heard of this. Will definitely have to give the books a try, because this trailer definitely has my interest piqued.

I just finished Butlerian Jihad, and looking to pick up some more. I had no idea they could maintain the style and yet interest me in a prequel

Yes please do. My dad introduced me to these books as well, and we have lost him to cancer. Every time I see these ads and updates I think of him sliding a cool book over for me to invariably crack the first page. Miss him.

This is one of those things I might actually have to investigate, for the very reason of unusual character names/places. My pronunciation of Dune characters and places changed RADICALLY when the first movie came out. Sometimes, a name spelled out is just a place-holder for a character or place. I quit trying to pronounce it, and just realize who/what it is in context of the story.

Even more DUNE on the way!!!

This actually makes sense considering how long the first one is:

https://collider.com/dune-two-movies...is-villeneuve/

I'm actually feeling nostalgic.... I'm gonna locate the original and the mini series remake! Perfect for the Home Theater.

He better not force it and make it all girl power.

How in the original books are there not enough women? "story’s lack of female characters."

Off the top of my head:
The entire sisterhood which is a major plot of the books
The head reverend mother helena
That women are equals in the fremen. If anything their revere women more.
The princess irullana(sp?)
Paul's wife chayni(sp?)
The shadow mapes
Paul's mother lady Jessica who plays a huge role
Paul's younger sister

That is just in Dune let alone the other books. All of them major roles in the plot and add to who Paul is as a person.

Hell Leto the second dies because of a woman.

I really don't see there not being enough strong women in the book of Dune.
