I see the smile at the end of your post so I know it was tongue in cheek. That said, I've always been intrigued by the notion of punishment fitting the intent and not the crime itself. I know that could never work in real life, but the concept is something I think about. In this case, the punks intended to hurt the painting, so "off with their heads" so to speak. Another example, if someone tries to kill someone and fails, they are punished as though they had succeeded. Intent vs Result.

Now back to the thread. Throw these punks in jail.

Got my attention for sure. I just ordered a 7 liter diesel Ram that has an exhaust pipe big enough to drive a Smart Car into.

Our society is spiraling down the toilet if art is more important than people and people have no respect for other's belongings and such.

A thread ostensibly about an unfortunate and disagreeable act committed against a piece of art is really a medium to attack a political outlook. Well, I guess it avoids it being deleted for being a political thread. But that's really just a bit sham.

No respect for others belongings? That art belongs to all of us so I find your complaint a bit hypocritical.

Thank you for demonstrating exactly how to misinterpret and make an incorrect assumption.

In other news, did you see these little shits in the UK dumping milk on supermarket floors because they need a plant based future?

Boils my blood.

My neighbors adopted a child when she was 4 months old - she had suffered physical trauma to her head and brain at the hands of her drug-addicted biological parents. Her behavior grew worse and worse as she aged...for example, she would take the milk out of the fridge and just start pouring it all over the kitchen because her adopted parents wouldn't let her watch SpongeBob Squarepants beyond her bed time.

At least she had an excuse. The kids in that video weren't raised right, plain and simple.

I was in Mayfair and noticed the same POS paint sprayed the Aston Martin showroom windows on Park Lane.

The texts betray the pretense and sophistry.

Yes it does, it is your statement that confuses me. On one hand your suggestion that art is more important than people seems to justify the actions of the protestors and yet you also suggest that not showing respect for other peoples property is also a sign of society spiraling down. These protestors show no respect for property, which seems to be in conflict with the first part of your statement.

As the OP, this is a "look at what those self-entitled douchebags did" thread, it has nothing to do with politics or activism in general, despite H2O_Doc's limited means of comprehension.

There is good activism, and then there is what those morons did to the Van Gogh painting, regardless of their cause. (By the way, I labeled them "environmental activists" because according to the article, that is what they called themselves). Attempting to destroy property, especially public works of art in the name of a cause is just....immature and moronic.
