i8 UK Orders

Hi all,

Ordered my i8 about a month ago and have just been advised that the dealer put through a pull forward request and we're now looking at July instead of November. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Many thanks

They said they were doubling production which (based on last year's short production time) would mean they're making them faster than they did E39 M5s and will surpass the total number of Z8s sold by the end of 2016. The i8 isn't going to be as limited as we were led to believe, but it will still be scarce for the first year or so.

Reading the comments about doubling production was one of the reasons I didn't buy the i8. I just feared this would happen. BMW can't seem to help themselves they now have a big volume mentality which eventually destroys value. Compare that to Porsche where they have limited GT3 production and are doing the same with the GT4.

Whilst I love BMW and my 1M is a keeper I am now moving back to Porsche

Ordered

Ordered mine this week! For me a lot of reviews/people seem to miss the point of this car, their view is either too enthusiast or ecomentalist.

I know it will not be quite as good as a 911 on the edge or lap as fast as one. I know it is not as economical, in electrical terms at least, as a Tesla or i3. But can the i3 go from 0-60 in ~3.8 seconds and can the 911 do 30mpg when being driven hard?

As for exclusivity, I bought mine to enjoy.....

I don't even know what to think anymore, got mine right at the end of last year and will enjoy it for now. Everything else is speculation, and if it stays close to MSRP in value down the road, we will all be fine! Didn't expect the car to appreciate in value but don't want it to drop like all the other BMWs I have bought.

Time will tell.....the market for these cars globally is bigger too compared to last decade.

I will be letting go of mine by May for another car. Not enough space in the garage and I figured it's a good idea to get out while residuals are high and demand is still struggling to be met. They want to have 3-4k on the road by the end of the year. Maybe come back later when they've decided to add features my Fiesta ST has (keyless entry) and things like adaptive cruise, etc. It doesn't look like they will be hard to find in 2-3 years.
