A Glitch? Rebooting iDrive Screen While Driving

Last night I had my first glitch with the i8. About three minutes into operating the car at night, and while changing satellite radio stations, suddenly the iDrive screen turned completely black for about 10 seconds. Then it slowly came back on, showing me several things on the screen as it rebooted I had never seen, including a SciFi-ish navigation landscape with tall buildings with text that Nav was coming on.

And then it was back. It asked me if I still wanted to go to my destination (so I knew it had rebooted because of this). I said "yes" and my route was put back up on the Nav screen.

Has anyone else had that problem? I hope the electronics aren't malfunctioning on me. I had a really bad iDrive on my first 650i and it was one of the reasons the car was declared a lemon.

Mine has a similar issue, the drive screen started randomly restarting with the black screen and the logos etc. the radio also went off at the same time.

The reboots were all random with the worst being 3 reboots within a couple of miles.

Apparently BMW are aware of the issue so the car went in for a software upgrade, since the upgrade it has only happened twice in two months. I took the car in again last week for some more software updates, they said it could be the fact I connect my iPhone 5s via Bluetooth and I am running the latest software? If it carries on even without the phone connected they will replace the hardware.
So will see how it goes over the next few weeks

On a positive note the car also got the safety recall for the petrol tank, and mine is not affected, they also did a product enhancement on the underpanels
