Some supermarkets are doing something similar over here. Unfortunately, trying to weed out the scumbags trying to exploit the situation will no doubt lead to needy, deserving people being excluded.

Wifey went out hunting/gathering just before noon today.
Parking lot only 1/2 full, came back with everything on her list except TP. Only chicken was scarce as far as foods go. Grocery store shelves returning to normal around our area (Charlotte, NC). |

Just as stuff were seemingly going back to normal, my little town is out of many things. Binny's lot was packed yesterday after Pritzker's announcement, stopped by some stores to re-up and buy a can opener.
Ran into my ex at Aldi so I genuinely wish I didn't go there, but it was more stocked than the Walmart right next to it. Target and Meijer were well stocked though; still no signs of toilet paper or paper towels. Which sucks because I didn't even account for paper towels and last night I opened the last one under the sink... Shop towels here I come |

Costco yesterday wasn’t bad. Basically have to line up and wait to enter in groups of 20-30. Once enough people leave, they let another group in. Some items are now non-returnable or limit 1 per customer to discourage hoarding. Other than some of the disinfectants/wipes, most stuff was in stock. They have signs out front with what they have in stock out of high demand items and what is out of stock so you don’t waste time in line. No more stops to check receipts at the exit and they scan your membership card while you hold it. Periodically stopping the checkout line to wipe down the conveyor belts.

My gf ordered some tp from Walmart online I think. Actually showed up today. It's some shitty scotts but hey beggars cant be choosers. It's a 30 roll pack so we should be set for a while. We have plenty of food and are suppose to have some steaks coming next week.
Already been like 1.5 weeks since I've left the house. Only went out once the other day to fill car with gas (just in case they start panic buying that too). |

The Lowes near my vacation home in Delaware has a huge stock of paper towels today. I bought one 12 pack. All the other stores around are still out of TP and paper towels.

Texted this to some friends today after a trip to Publix, our supermarket:
Top 3 annoying types of people at Publix: 1. The Deniers: “I’m not afraid of no stinkin virus. If I get Corona, I get a Corona but right now I need to be close to you.” 2. The Clueless browsers: “Should I get the spaghetti or elbow macaroni? Gosh I just can’t decide. I’ll get the spaghetti. No wait the elbows. Oh wow why are all these people lined up like they are waiting for me?” 3. At the other end of the spectrum, the Panicked. “I need put on a mask or cover my face with a bandana like a cowboy and sprint through the store to avoid missing out on the last of every item in the store. When I get to my car I will speed through the parking lot to return to my underground lair as soon as possible.”

I just went shopping (in the Countach no less. Figured why not - might not live much longer!) - had no problems. They had tequila, Grand Marnier and limes - don't see what everyone is complaining about.

I went shopping today for us and my parents, who are not allowed out of their independent living facility. I had two shopping lists containing everything from paper towels to chives. I was able to get every single thing on both lists.
Pasta aisle was sad looking but not empty. Same for the paper aisle. The store is limiting purchases of certain items so it doesn't get stupid. They even had TP -- a weird brand, and small packages, but TP nonetheless. Every register was staffed. I went right up to one, paid, and left. No waits, no lines, no stress. |
