Yep, frame geometry etc...everything on the design side, from a blank sheet. A hardtail frame can be self-built surprisingly well from off the shelf materials/components, and using relatively inexpensive tools. And geometry (not materials etc) is king.

Highly unlikely. It was a tiny company called BTR Fabrications (btr-fabrications.com), founded in 2012. I cofounded it with a friend, who now runs it on his own. Work-life balance was wrong, even though I'm still passionate about bikes and the engineering behind them.

Porn star.

I can't believe that any BP-OT "job/career" thread made it to page #2 without someone bringing this one up.....

I'm a Project Coordinator for a technology contracting company. I work mostly with school districts and medical offices overseeing projects to upgrade their technology infrastructure, their networks, and provide managed services (helpdesk/support).

The pros:
-I get to improve education in school districts
-I see my boss maybe 3 times a year
-The owner of the company is a car guy
-We have decent benefits and vacation time
-I get paid mileage to drive to all the sites
-Everyone I work with/for in my company is fairly intelligent and down to earth
-No shortage of work, especially during covid

The cons:
-Hours can be quite long and unpredictable depending on projects/deadlines
-Many of the clients the company works for have zero concept of how things work, and just expect it to "work" for free
-Being a contracting company, we are often brought in to assist existing technology staff to complete large projects. This means they believe we are out for their jobs, so political games ensue
-Most of my meetings involve getting board of ed members, who are usually aged 70 to 80, to spend money on technology when they believe kids should be using chalk boards

3PL Logistics is my main business.

I have contracted rates with all carriers like Fedex, DHL, UPS the airlines for air freight, oceanliner companies for container shipping, trucking companies etc. I save small to medium sized businesses ton's of money by providing them serious discounts on their shipping they otherwise wouldn't be able to get unless they spending at least 100k+ a year in shipping.

Senior Technical Writer for a large eCommerce software provider. If you've ever shopped at Williams-Sonoma, they use our software.

I document the help system on how to use our product to build your commerce site. Well, I document one small part of it. I think we have something like 120 tech writers (at different levels) all over the World at this point.

Middle management.

Long hours, high stress, mediocre pay, demanding boss, grumpy engineers, back stabbing colleagues, disgruntled workers.

Oh the joys of corporate life.
