Door to Body Wire Loom
So I got in my car yesterday and I noticed upon opening the door the wire loom that connects from the door to the car body has exposed wiring now. The rubber wire loom has split. Anyone had this happen yet and did the dealership give you any slack on fixing it? I'll be calling to drop mine off as soon as I get my car from the mod shop.

Yes I had this happen to my 2016 car. My car was 3 months outside its 3 year warranty but it was covered under a Gesture of good will from BMW. If they try tell you its not covered, kick up a stink and tell them its not good enough. Its a 4 day job to fix..The entire side of the car must be removed including wheel arches, wings and so on. |

All BMWs have 5 year and 200.000 km warranty here in Norway. My F11 had a defect air suspension that I discovered 2 moths out! They fixed it as it could be lack of attention from my side that it was not discovered within the warranty. They are defiantly not very squared when it comes to solving issues like that.

I had the drivers side loom replaced a few months ago under warranty. It's a significant work item for the dealership as noted by ken997 above.
I've just noticed that the passenger side conduit has also now split, so it will be going back in to the dealership in the new year to have that one done under warranty as well. |

Thanks guys! My car is still under warranty and yes I'm sure its quite a job to fix. While its my issue, it will soon be their issue to fix. As soon as my car comes out of the mod shop I'll schedule time with the dealership. Thanks again

Sure..I put the plastic cover on mine to protect the wiring loom while they decided whether to cover it on warranty or not. Ensure they put the right wiring loom in.. When my car was returned the side camera and the light strip on the door didnt work..they had installed the incorrect wiring loom and the entire process had to be done again. The car was gone for over a week. The cost of labour was substancial but it was covered on warranty so no issue. Best of luck with yours..

Having seen the pic, i've just lubricated my with spray white grease on around the conduit. Seems to slide a bit better now.
Worth doing but would have thought it might take a long while before affecting the wires? |
