2015 vs 2016

Hello! I'm looking to purchase my first BMW and I'm set on the i8. I was wondering the main difference between the 2015 and 2016 models. Are there any advantages of getting one over the other? I found a used '15 in my area with low miles and it has the Pure Impulse package, but if there is a major difference in the '16 I would rather wait.

Only difference is that the 2016 model had the option to get Laser headlights for $6300

I was in same situation as you. I ended up purchasing a 2016 i8 with 4200 miles at not a substantially higher price than 2015 models. I purchased my car as a certified BMW so it had a 5 year extended warranty. Getting the 2016 gave me one more year through 2021 vs 2015 model. I'm not expecting any problems, but having the extra year gives some peace of mind. I also was able to transfer the maintenance agreement over for $800 (in hindsight, should have negotiated that into the price). That gets me service through 2020.

There is no substantial difference between a 2015 model and 2016 model.

I read that BMW discontinued the ability to transfer the maintenance program in 2017? Does that mean for 2015/2016 models we are still able to transfer the maintenance plan?

If that's the case, my search for a new car is done! I'm going to catch a lot of shade for selling the GT-R for the i8 but man, it's a beautiful car

I wasn’t aware that they had cancelled the transfer program. My dealer was able to do it for me.
