Wow! Under the hood is busier than a internal combustion engine! Tesla did a better job to keep under the hood clean and make room for frunk.
Also doesn't look than much room in the back either.

Only sales statistics will serve as an indicator whether the BMW decisions about iX design / pricing have been correct.

So far iX V1.0 is ... V1.0.

Still in search of someone who likes the new interior design. With iX I don't care, but I am very unhappy new 7 series will have the similar design language and overall look&feel

At least there's something to look at under the hood.

I don't think the hood is actually accessible to owners, only service. Would have probably been more beneficial to package the batteries lower down and make it a frunk.

Look at all that CF in the body

Nice to see a manufacturer willing to be transparent literally with their design up-front, like every other car they've made they want to educate you about the product, unlike Tesla, around which a cottage industry has sprung up to try and figure out WTF the cars are even

I'm old enough to remember when batteries weren't user serviceable because the dealer had to "code" them.

If an owner wants to get in there, the owner can, and odds are good that (right to repair) will be codified in some states pretty soon

Also, other than the 12v battery, what's under there that anybody is going to need to do anything with on any kind of non-failure basis? Brake fluid every 2 years?

My experience with Model X so far (and family's experience with a 3 and an S) is - just drive it. Sometimes the coachbuilding is a little suspect, but the mechanical bits just work. BMW knows how to coachbuild, so I imagine it will just...work. Imagine owning a BMW without HPFP's, O2 sensors, or wastegates. What's left to break?

Why? Why? Why? Why do they need all that junk under the hood?
They've had Teslas to look at for 9 years now. Haven't they learnt anything?

Because not everyone wants to do the Tesla way.

BMW doesn't have a dedicated EV platform, so they may want to put more weight in front to optimize weight distribution now that the heavy engine is missing.

Many other manufacturers do not have frunk either.
One reason is to move the HVAC components from the cabin to the front:
Electric Car Frunks-Bonus Space or Wasted Opportunity

As for learning from Tesla, I hope NO ONE else would learn Tesla's "Build Fast, Fix Later" philosophy in building cars.

iX just like i3 but unlike iX3 or i4 is supposed to be a dedicated EV platform based on iNext.

I was obviously referring to Teslas technical construction like the skateboard. I fullt agree that the rest if their design is not up to par (I had one for three years).

I hope BMW never learns anything non battery related from Tesla, ever. Putting a variable amount of weight on top of the front wheels is not a good idea.
