My i8

Hey, have been reading these boards for a while (since I placed my order ) but only now getting round to registering.

Anyway, my i8 is below.

One thing that is quite cool is that this is the first car in the UK to have the laser light option fitted. I got the car in November last year and only had to wait 3 months from ordering to delivery

Nice car. Some of us scofflaws in those states in the U.S. where front plates are required have resisted putting them on. But the UK plates look pretty good since they can be long rectangles rather than boxy ones.

I'd sure like to know how the laser lights work. You've also got comfort access, don't you?

very very cool. I did not order the laser lights. Dealer did not know price and seemed to say it would be £7k odd. To be honest I really don't feel short changed with the 'standard' set-up. Really good looking car. You have the dark brown interior right?

Very nice, congrats!
I don't see the laser lights on the configurator, can you enlighten me please (ha ha)?
Also, well done, but how come you got yours so quickly? I ordered mine about the same time as you (August?) but mine's not due til March!

Thanks guys.

To answer your questions:

I have the carpo world black interior.

Yes I have the comfort access. To be honest I have every option that was/is possible to order.

The laser lights are pretty damn good, they really do illuminate pretty much the entire road as far as you can see. They are of most use on a country road and if you lived in the city then there's not much practical advantage to them.

The laser lights are not on the official list as an option - you have to specifically ask for them and then you have to "be approved by BMW" to have them, apparently. I can tell you that they are not cheap!!!

I got the car so quickly due to the lights. They bumped my order to the top of the list as it was the first order for the lights.

Congrats!

Mine doesn't have the blue accents but I kinda like it (more understated if that's possible). LED lights are very very good but I can't imagine what Laser lights are like!

Nice car

Believe me, I left it to the very last day before my car was locked down to make a decision between the blue or grey accents. I like both

Nice looking ride - congrats and welcome to the board!

Hey just curious if you guys in the UK are getting the same lousey electric range as us in the US- full charge goes to only 15-16 miles - in Sport mode only charges to around 10-12 are you the same?

As I live in the cold North of Scotland and it's the middle of winter here I only get 9 miles range on a full charge...

Thank You - like the BMW I3 range extender and tank I was wondering if the UK model was more refined with regard to battery range than the US version.

I just wonder how they ever came up with the 20-25 mile range no one has seen?

I was quoted £8k for laser headlights when I did the specification for my car. Fair play to you for adding them, makes your car unique.
