Yup.

I saw a meme where there were two glasses representing Tesla, one for speed one for quality both a quarter full of water. Elon proceeds to pour a gallon of water in the performance glass and none in the quality.

A perfect metaphor for Tesla.

The build quality of my Model Y is OK. The issues are more about the design decisions:
Poor suspension for rough roads. This is a design decision in the damping department. The parts are high quality, at least on my car.
Too little sound deadening.
Too short seats.
Getting rid of most buttons and then having an awful layout for digital buttons.
Poor NVH control/resonances/booming.
No driver gauges.
A vision system that is excellent at finding cones but little else.

Then for the Plaid, in addition to all of that, you get:
Aerodynamics and suspension that can't handle high speed.
Too little braking capability.
A yoke steering wheel.

There should be updated Ordering and Pricing Guides by the end of the month. Contact your dealer for details about adding these options now into the system.

I heard those options wont be available until MY23….so probably May/June to align with the MY23 order bank.

Hi,
Im looking to order a I4 M50 soon and planning on financing it. Any ideas on how or when to lock in the interest rates ? Currently there doesnt appear to be any promotions for the I4 in my area. Are you supposed to pay the interest rate at the prevailing market rate when u take delivery of the vehicle in 6-8 months ?

Thanks

Pretty much unless they are running a promotion. They ran a promotion for cars ordered before Jan 3, 2022.

I don't know how you would lock right now.

Thanks. Its weird that they are running promos for 2.99% APR for every car except the I4. Even the IX has 2.99% APR. I somehow thought it was a typo but it isnt

2.99 is almost free money these days, since feds increased the interest rates. Who knows where we'll be in a few months.

But, 1.99% is better.

Thats the problem. They say we cant rate lock it as we need to to take delivery within 90 days..the way the cars are being built, we would be lucky to get a production number in 90 days

On a side note, if im planning on ordering an I4 M50 now, would you choose a dealer with lower no of people in their order bank - like 4-6 (maybe a smaller dealership) or a large volume dealer with 28 people in the order bank? The SA is saying it doesnt really matter as the orders are filled based on the date of order than who is on the waiting list. Is that true?

I'd pick a dealer I trust.

Nobody really knows what algorithm BMW uses to assign i4 allocations, anyone (including dealers) that's giving you a definitive answer here is speaking out of term.

BMW may decide to give priority to strong I4 dealerships (large order bank), or they may also will look at geography, there's no way to know.

If you're going to place an order, use a dealer you trust that won't try to charge you a premium / market adjustment for the car.

Thank you. The dealer that quoted me is Bill Jacobs BMW who has a wait list of 28. They r supposedly the largest selling dealership in IL for 3 yrs in a row (from their website). I havent worked with them before but they were very honest, straightforward and no upcharges or BS. No market adjustments either. Have a costco membership and so was able to get under MSRP without any negotiations. BTW, pl avoid Patrick BMW - classic bait and switch and a bunch of add on's to bulk up their pockets even though they said they will give it to me at MSRP

The smaller dealer is in WI. He has a wait list of 4. Wanted 1600+ MSRP but I think I can get it to MSRP but not below. Dont know if its worth it to try and get into his waitlist too since its shorter and maybe get my car sooner. Right not they are all saying Jan- March 2023 for delivery as BMW has yet to fullfill their pre-orders for the I4 from last year

It's funny that IL largest dealer doesn't even have half the preorders a smaller dealer in my area 🙂. BMW of Ontario, 80 preorders and growing. The largest dealer in the world BMW of Crevier is not even taking reservations at this point since their order bank is so long.

If I were you I'd stick with the IL dealer 🙂

Wjjklj Im unable to respond back to your message. The answer to your question is $1000 under MSRP. Certainly beats the $60/year Costco membership fees !!!. Ive used Costco Auto with good results for 3 of my cars and they have all been very good experiences
