My 2024 i4 M50 Individual - M seats retrofitted - Heavily modified - "OEM+ car"

Finally placed order for an i4 M50 Individual. Now I just have to spend the months towards March to decide the interior and paint color. Im not sure about the color yet, but since I already have an M550d Individual in Champagne Quartz, I hope that it will be possible to order the i4 in the same color as I think this color is amazing.

Interior: Full Merino Tartufo with center console, lower door panel and upper dor panel in leather. I may have to order the "Individual Manufaktur" to get this in combination with M-sport seats.

Color: If the Champagne Quartz cant be ordered, Im considering about Urban Green, Grigio Telesto Pearl, Fashion Grey, Limerock Grey or Stratus Grey. If anyone have any suggestions, Ill be more than happy to know.

Since BMW does not make the perfect car, I will do the following mods;
V Touch column stalks with auto-button
V UK drivers mirror with auto dim (to retrofit auto dim on the passenger side for LHD cars)
V UK headliner sun visors (to retrofit sun visor on the passenger side without "warning label" for LHD cars)
V H&R lowering springs
V Spacer to get the M868 flush witht the fenders
X Paint the matte black part of the side skirt black high gloss
X Paint the "diamonds" in the lower part of the grill in black high gloss
X Use the M50 from "X5 M50i" to get the M50-lettering in same size
V Retrofit G26 4er BMW roundel front and rear (to get rid of the blue surrounding)
V Retrofit G26 4er airbag (to get rid of the blue surrounding)
X Retrofit Crystal Elements (gear knob, iDrive-controller, start button and volume knob)
V Retrofit integrated rear view mirror with homelink/garagedoor opener from G11 7-series (the car cant be ordered with this option, and Ill use the 7er mirror since the mirror are frameless)
X 20" inch winter wheels (probably OEM M442)
V Galcanic central door lock button for driver and passenger side
X Soft close doors retrofit
V Passenger seat memory
V X3 M seats with ventilation

Limerock Grey

Urban Green

Sepang Bronze

Merino Tartufo

The countdown has started

Is AC-Schnitzer offering a front springs/air suspension coding kit for the i4?

That's a 4U0 option. Why do not you just opt in for this option instead of retrofitting later?

Cool idea! Any hints how to do that? AFAIK, 4 series do not ever come with soft close doors. That's the option I'd also like to have as I've always had that on my cars.

Not at the moment, but they will offer during 2022. My dealer will mount the ACS springs and do the coding before delivery. Anyway, i dont think my car will be delivered before they release the spring set.

I dont want the galvanic window lifter switch, but i want the galvanic buttons for the door lock button which is placed by the galvanic in the interior trim. Unfortunately, you will still get one black plastic piece on the passenger side, therefore you have to choose the G20 and/or G07 to get galvanic plastic piece on the passenger side too.

You have to do some rewiring. I did this retrofit on my BMW i3S. I used door locks from F15 X5/G11 7-series. I havent seen which parts i need yet, but it should be easy to do.

Yes, i cant understand why they have this blue accents and why they dont offer the iX crystal trim. It looks so cool with this feature.

Finally found out that the Champagne Quartz are renamed Alvit Grey. I already have this color on my M550d Individual and just love it! Therefore i decided to order the same color.

I also figure about some seat and leather issues. The M-sport seats cant be delivered with merino. As i have merino leather in my M550d, i prefer this over the vernasca.

I came on an idea, where i order the car with standard sport seats with ventilation and merino. Then swap the front seats from an M3, X3 M or something, which have both merino and ventilation. In this case, i have solved the leather problem and also got the ventilated seats as well. As i can see in the ETK, the seats are identical. Just different part numbers on the seat module, but i guess the difference is that the M3, X3 M seat has illuminated seat back logo. Does anyone have an idea?

It sucks if i order merino with standard sport seats and cant retrofit the M-sport seats.

This "no Merino with M seats" decision came from Individual Manufaktur, or this was your dealer telling you what the system is showing?

My understanding is that Individual Manufaktur will do what you want for a price, as long as it is legal in your country. And these M seats are available in Merino in the M cars, so there no technical or supplier reason for these seats not to be in Merino. If anything, this looks like a marketing reason - no 3- or 4 Series will have an interior that looks like an M car.

Regardless, I will be requesting the M seats as well and have no problem with Vernasca in Cognac, and the rest of the interior in Nappa/Merino Black.

Have to get it confirmed by the Individual Manufaktur, but i guess they charge $10K for it, and its for sure not worth it on an EV which is outdated in 4-5 years. To me, it seems like an marketing thing that they didnt offer the Merino on the M-sport seats. Like the shame that they didnt offer leather on the top of the door panels, when the G2x 3-series and G22 4-series Coupe get it.

Since the M seats aren't offered on the standard car in the US, in order for bmw to fulfill the order they'd have to literally go through the process of crashing an entire car.

That’s not necessary correct, but I will find out for sure once I get my production number.

They don't have to crash every variant and configuration.

The seats are offered on the US in a similar body. I'm pretty sure they can use data from the M3/M4.

Most of why the I4 is offered the way it is looks to be so it mirrors the M440ix Grand Coupe.

The leather dash and piano black trim are also missing in the US.

Just got that information from BMWNA... they did not homologate the M Seats in the i4 for the USA.

They really concluded that it was not worth homologating these seats for the amount of customers selecting this option. In the "first" electric M car, they keep saying this is.

There is no question I would have selected the seats in Cognac Leather.

I bet they will introduce it on a face lift model

I wish BMW would offer the pleather/alcantara seats here in the states, even if it wasn't a proper M-seat.

Ah, another bean counter with an MBA making option decisions.... but I get it actually. The i4 M50 is M-performance (i.e. M440i) vs M GmbH (M4). When the i4M ls launched, I expect we'll see the full compliment of M options, like seats and more importantly weight reduction and CCBs... or at least M-compound brakes

I think you will be waiting years for an i4M.

Don't expect one anytime soon.

Alvit Grey (Champagne Quartz)

It’s really great you order your i4 in Alvit Grey!
A pity BMW nowadays only markets it for the 5-series.

It is the nicest car colour I know! (Have it on my F30 330e, pic)

Are you getting your car soon now?

Hi!

I´m sorry for late answer. Yes, CQ/Alvit Grey are one of the nicest color ever. Ill get the car in the beginning of June, so just 4-5 weeks left.

Got a bunch of parts already, so i can´t wait to get my hans on it and start modding.

Im a fan of "OEM+". The first things i will do is to retorift X3 M seats with ventilation, auto dim mirrors, steering wheel airbag from M440i, H&R lowering springs ++.

If you do glass controller and gloss trim on the center console, wouldn’t that still leave you with matte black trim for the modes/PDC/traction button area? Just wondering. I thought about going gloss but the left side being not gloss I think would really stick out to me in my (future) vehicle.
