I’ve got 2 fully loaded cars coming. An iX50 and an i4 M50. Quite a tab running I’d say, and no credit check. It’s my first purchase from this dealer so they don’t know me, so I’d expect it to be a dealer thing.

M50. I ordered at the end of June.

I don't see why they need a check anyway.
If you back out, they get a car that's in high demand.

I concur, sounds like an elitist BMW dealer to be honest... I mean BMW's FS "top tier" credit is 670 FICO Auto 8 for crying outloud...

They shouldn't need to pre-screen you with a credit app, it's not like you can't go get your own financing at time of delivery either.

Exactly.

I'd be more than happy to pull my own credit and let them look. I don't appreciate hard pulls because it lowers your score and the inquiry sticks around for a year.

Even when I have come in with my own financing and a request for a copy of the contract to wire funds to them, dealers have wanted to do credit checks. Why?

I'm like no eff'n way. I'm getting you your money in a wire transfer. I'm not using your dollars, so no you can't run my credit.

I also keep all three credit reports locked. You can't actually run my credit unless I let you.

Dealer in VA. Last Friday I placed an order for a loaded M50 & X5 M50, also loaded to the hilt, both vehicles with semi-individual colors (8-10 weeks extra).

I got 3.5% off MSRP + incentives at the time of delivery for both vehicles. No credit check, $1,500 deposit on both. I suspect I'll get the X5 in June .. the the i4 in December. That's just my guess though.

* 1st time with this dealer .. but it is known I am a loyal customer. They saw my history with BMWFS -- maybe that helped with the discount.

14 M235, 15 M4, 15 i8, 16 X5, 16 M4(ZCP) - Euro Delivery, 18 M2 (OG), 18 M550, 18 M5, 20 M340, 20 X5 - Now these.

If someone is in the Bay Area and needs an i4/iX allocation my contact mass emailed us some availability. They are being sold at MSRP without markup. He usually just sends out M3/M4/M allocations but got this recently. Can PM for his contact.

iX x3 - Summer 2022
i4 M50 x2 - Summer 2022
i4 40 x4 - Summer 2022

I placed preorder back in October with Niello BMW in Sacramento. I was told car may be available in summer. After seeing this thread, I asked dealer if they were planning on markup and I was told they would be asking for $10k above sticker. Obviously cancelled my order and placed new preorder with BMW of Fairfield. Sales advisor there tells me they will sell at at MSRP. Unfortunately, now won't have car until end of year.

You should also notify BMW NA and let them know that Niello is trying to get a premium. We want BMW to mess with their allocation.

Also everyone should report dealers that are doing that.

Fairfield advertises that they don't mark up cars.

I don't think there's a policy on how much a dealer can charge for your car. The common practice today (California Dealers) for i-series car orders you pay MSRP.

I have checked this with 3 dealers and the process is the same. Sale price is MSRP, ($1000-1500 deposit), no credit check. If someone backs out after production number is assigned, the dealer takes the car into their inventory and they will mark-up the car based on demand. If someone backs out when in order bank status, they will lose their place in line and the line gets shorter.

If a dealer wants to charge above MSRP, more power to them, they won't get many orders though. Everyone should confirm sale price in writing before placing an order.

Let's see what happens.

Dealers can absolutely do what they want, but as a consumer; you should vote with dollars and tell BMW and the dealership why and how you voted.

If you don't buy a car from one dealer and do but it from another tell them both. If I walk out, I let them know why.

I don't have that probl with my dealer since I don't think I've ever seen markups on new cars there.

For me even MSRP is painful. I never pay full price. I'm definitely not paying a "market adjustment".

That my trade-in will be worth several grand more due to "market conditions" is the only thing that makes paying MSRP tolerable to me.

It's funny money at this point, you pay full price but you get more for your trade. Unless you have a car laying around you don't need anymore.

Lesson definitely learned about asking for price before preorder. I just never imagined a car dealer would be so greedy to tack on a markup to a preorder a customer was going to be waiting 6+ months for. I have not gotten a production number so I hope Niello loses the allocated car but not sure if that will happen. I have let BMW NA know but it looks like I go to the back of the line at Fairfield.

Did you place your pre-order on BMW's webs site. Or did you directly place the pre order with Fairfield? There are questions regarding who the allocation is assigned to, if you placed the order via BMW's web site. If BMW thinks that pre-orders placed via the web site are owned by you. Then you can in theory move your pre-order to any dealer you like (with BMW's assistance).

This.
The dealer does not own a pre-order done through BMW NA. That allocation was assigned to a dealer and not from their normal allocation.

My pre-order is through my dealers fleet/internet sales and not a normal sales guy.

Hi, I just joined.

If I configure a build and press the button to order it, the first thing it does is put me in touch with a local dealer. So how do I make sure my order is through BMW NA corporate and not through the dealer so that I may move it if necessary?

At this point, you don't. Pre-ordering closed months ago. Now you can only order through a dealer.

Even the preorder process required you to select a dealer as they hold the deposit. It’s a moot point now as preorders are long done. Just shop around…

That said, if you’re within driving distance to the Performance Center in Greer, SC (near Greenville), you can expand your search to nationwide — just request Performance Center Delivery…. In a nutshell, they (BMW) puts you up at the Greenville Marriott for a night with dinner, then you get roughly 1/2 day driving a few BMW’s on a closed circuit at the Performance Center learning how the car handles. They feed you a great lunch in their cafe, you get to go tour the Zentrum and get a Factory Tour if you so choose, all gratis… then you take delivery of your new car and drive home. I’ve had the pleasure of using that program several times…. It’s definitely top shelf.

Good luck with your hunt!

Cheers!
