What should I be paying for a 340i?

For a little context I am in Los Angeles and like I'm interested in a 340i 2017 and up and no more than 50k miles. It has to be the M- Sport Package, but color of the car, the wheels, and the interior doesn't matter except no tan.

In this current market you're going to pay about 15-20% too much. It's a terrible time to be buying a used car. Value are through the roof and prices all over the place. I wouldn't be surprised if dealers are asking $40K-45K for a clean 2017 340i.

You think it would cost that much? cause i've been doing some digging and i've seen clean title 1 owner, low mileage (under 50), etc for like 30-35k

Used car prices specially something like M340 are absurd right now. You might as well buy new if you have the budget (still expensive but not as bad used), or wait about a year until supply catches up.

A friend of mine picked up the last year for the F30 340i with ~30k miles, when it was about 2 years old, for right around $27k I believe. It was black on black, M-Sport.

Probably at LEAST 10% above what it would normally sell for. Normal would be low 30's, but i've seen some selling in Dallas for as much as $40k.

If you can, I would wait 6 months to a year, and if you need one now, buy new. At least your will get a full warranty and manufacturer incentives!

I completely agree with the wait but im not sure if in 6 months they will be any lower, cause i would say 340i are pretty sought after because of the realized power of the B58. I've found one for 34k, I wanna see what you think. https://shift.com/car/2017-white-bmw-3-series/c144986

looks pretty clean and that interior is way red. If that is what you are looking for go with it. I would say it is on the high side by 3-5k, but within reasonable limits for the current used market. I traded my 15 M235 F23 in and got about 3k more than book from the dealership. The shortage has put a premium on used cars.

How soon do you need the car? I'd wait it out for two reasons: for used car prices to lower, and for G20 M340 lease trade ins to start hitting the used market. The F30 was the worst generation of 3-series, better to hold out for a G20.

It's best to wait until the used market begins to operate as a market again. Lease takeover could be an option.

I always buy privately; better price and talking with the owner, you'll be able to tell if the car has been "loved". Must have maintenance records. I've bought 3 of 4 BMWs over the telephone b/c the owners have given me that confidence. Mind you, actual money never changed hands till I actually saw the car. First car had just ben inspected by a BMW dealer [and was 15 yr old E30]. I actually bought it before I drove it.

I bought my 2018 for around 43k with 16k miles. Conversely I got great trade in values to offset the price. Very low supply of 340s in Minnesota overall.

Yeah I agree with that because not only does the interior of the M340i look way better I personally like the engine tone way more than the gen1 B58. Also I am in no rush of getting the car but realistically speaking I don't think in 6-12 months the M340i would be sub 40k for a decent mileage one

You're looking to buy a used car so your price will be determined by the seller. Especially right now when inventory is near non-existent. Your price will be the asking price less what you can negotiate it down to. The first problem will be finding one you want. Start with the Kelly or NADA suggestions and try to get it as close to that as you can.

Just to add a data point, there was a super clean alpine white on red leather interior, 6speed manual w/ M sport package (!) 2018 340i w/ 28K miles in Socal about a month ago, clean carfax single owner car with CPO for $35.9. I was just about to wire money over for it but ended up going in a different direction.

No it definitely won't be sub-$40k for a while. If you want that power in that price range soon then C43 or S4/5 are your best bet. Or the F30.

I can parrot all day for Alfa Romeo but unfortunately they don't offer an engine in that category. It's either base I4 or fire breathing Quadroformaaagio.

Yeah ill probably still be sticking to the 340i just simply because I have friends in the Bmw community that also have a car with the B58

Sounds like a great deal but i'm personally looking for an 8 speed automatic transmission.

Lets add more details to what specific spec I want, I would like a 340i with mileage no more than 50k, ideally in Alpine white with a Coral red interior (but no real color preference for the exterior or interior, just no tan interior) the M-Sport package, and 8 Speed automatic transmission.

I’m selling my pretty loaded Apline White / Red interior 2018 340i M-Sport to Carvana with 21k miles for $38,300. Market is crazy right now. I would wait.

You're just a little too far unfortunately and the price is higher than what i'm looking for. I'm located in Los Angeles. Reason why you're selling yours?
