i4 M50 Hatchback Question (Can you have seats up and open access to rear)

As the title states, trying to understand how hatchbacky the i4 is. Can I have the seats up and still have direct access (over the seats) to the rear. Effectively this is for transporting the family dog. We currently use my wife's SUV for this, my Model 3 Performance is not a hatchback, so we can't take it with the dog. I'm looking for that SUV/station wagon type versatility.

I looked at the pictures, and it seems there's a tray that closes with the hatchback sealing that area off. Is that removable? I imagine it's tight and that there isn't a lot of height, might be too tight a squeeze for our 80 LB dog, but he can also just lay down, but wouldn't want it completely shut off.

The tray is in fact removable. Not sure how much headroom will be available for a 80 pound dog.

Thanks mate!

Are there any dimensional differences between the i4 M50 and the standard 4 series GC? Is the load floor higher due to batteries, are the exterior/interior dimensions the same? Just trying to see for that.

I'm not sure I want to replace my daily with a CUV (Model Y/X3 type size), but if I can hack a sedan/hatchback thingy and make it work for the dog, that'd be nice. This would still be for relatively short trips <30 minutes as my wife has a large SUV.
