Audi is a great car, no doubt. I would take an R8 over any bimmer in the world. Ill take it over any M6 or M5, even an M3CSL. Stop hating:sad0147:

I am surprised not only by the comments from some people but the title of the thread. Such comments and title were design to start arguments, nothing more.

I like BMWs and Audis but I wouldn't place one ahead of the other, they are just different in the way they get the job done. I personally rate the S5 is classier car to the 335i, this is not playing down the 335i's abilities because it is a really capable car and a landmark in turbo technology, it just that the S5 has more road presence, a nice exhaust note (more cylinders always helps) and a better designed interior. All of which are worth the extra cash involved in my opinion.

You could argue that the M3 is over priced compared to the 335i as a chip upgrade is all that is required to achieve the same performance, but sure anyone can seen in both cases M3 and S5 that there is more than performance that can justify a price difference.

By the way, Footie...hows your gas mileage on that S5?

At 430hp in my 335 I still get 20-22mpg driving fairly aggressive.

Similar mileage but in a better, classier, nice sounding car.

E90ice,

Why are you surprised at that, is it because you weren't bright enough to know you would have to convert from Imperial Gallons into US Gallons.

By the way, almost all of my driving is done in the city and normal journeys are no longer than 10miles, on a decent run it returns 27~28mpg (imperial).

Yes, that must be why there is a gas guzzler tax for it here in the US.

PS. personal attacks and insults are not neccesary

Really? Is that so E90ice??? Then why did you feel the need to throw a personal attack at me?

BTW, the statement you made above is a little hypocritical in the context of your post. Just state how you feel.... For example, I believe the S5 is meant for Metros and girls. Just be honest.....

I made a comment about your car, not YOU...and that was because you came here and flamed all of us that are working hard trying to determine if the S5 is girly/metrosexual...and of course, if its faster than a Civic around the track for the 60k price tag...

Umm I am failing to see hypocritical part...you do know what a hypocrite is right? I see everything in line, let me paraphrase it for you.

Title = Argument starter

overall BMW = overall Audi
S5 class, exaust, road presence > 335
S5 price > 335

335i + chip performance > M3 performance yet M3 > 335
S5 ... ditto

Oh yeah... for future reference... I don't know how it is in Canada but "I personally rate" and "I believe" are equivelent statements.

Hawkeye,

There are some people who prefer to stir, I think regular Internet users call them trolls. I don't understand the name but I do see it present with quite a lot of BMW fans, regardless of the site you are on and brand it happens to be. I have visited Audiworld and seen them there, the same with M5board.com and RS6.com, all BMW fanboys their call them representing the worst part of owning the product.

Thank God they are few and far between, but sadly even with small numbers they seem to make themselves heard more than most.

Last time I checked you were the one coming on a BMW forum and try to tell everyone that your S5 is better.

I believe you are the troll here.

Thanks for proving your own point.

I am the person who happens to own an Audi S5 but is changing to an M3, surely that makes me a convert. But as I love my S5 I will sing it's praises to anyone who will listen and when someone classes it as rubbish and tells mistruths about it then surely I like anyone would put the record straight.

My understanding of a troll is someone who runs something down to the lows to start an argument, I haven't done that since joining this site.

If that makes me a troll then I have misunderstood it's meaning.

Simple, I test drove it and I liked it. Can't say fairer than that.

P.S.

I test drove the 335i before buying the S5, so clearly I was interested in a BMW, just at that time there wasn't the one I wanted until now. I have always driven either BMW or Audi, I just like German cars.

Will I keep driving BMW after the M3, chances are probably not as by that time either a new RS4 or RS5 will be out and as I wouldn't want a CSL or an M5 and the M3 won't be getting extra power before a new model I will most likely go back to Audi. I go where the wind takes me.

So you'll take the M3 even with the "crappy" interior that BMW makes?
