Where to get a good deal on engagement ring?

I was thinking that soon may be the time to move on to the next chapter in life... imprisonment (err, marriage)

It's time to sh*t or get off the pot, so to speak.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get a good deal on an engagement ring. Either online, or stores in the Chicagoland area.

seriously though, I've done a little calling around so far, and have gotten prices that range b/w stores at over $5000! (again, just the range in quotes, for the same exact ring) This seems to me to be a little nuts. Basically, I'm just looking to avoid getting reamed.

yes they do!!! not to go off subject but my mom once bought a fax/copier ..used it for about 3 years... then returned it when it was broken!

Seriously though...i dont think you want to buy your diamond online. there are too many variables that go into buying a diamond. its like buying rims - you dont just go out and say hey i wanna buy rims that cost under 4k.
sorta have to do some research so your not ripped off. the rims analogy... offset/tires & rim sizes/brands/style etc...

you should find out what kind of cut of dimond she might like that will narrow it down a bit. back to the rims anaolgy, if she was to buy you rims is your style chrome, high polished, brushed, blacked out? same thing with diamonds.

ok now im just blabbing.. go to the stores and take a look at it yourself in real life (which is your better bet).

oh yea .. good luck on the marriage thingy
