Spherical Leather?

my 2014 i8 has
Vollleder Spheric Perforiert/carum-grau - NGCJ

which translates to : Spheric full leather perforated / carum-gray

I have looked all over. trying to figure out what leather care to use. Even the BMW leather care product says it is not made for "full grain leather" which means technically it should not be used on Merino, for instance.

so, what is "Spheric" leather? and where is your source, so I can corroborate it, please.

(title says "Spherical", that was a typo)

Here is the cited reference.
No, just kidding. Here is what I do for my Carum Spice seats. YMMV.

I believe Spherical refers to the fact that the leather is all BMWi cars are tanned in sustainable manner. I have been using Colourlock Leather cleaner and Leather Shield on my car and it works beautifully. Not shiny or greasy like other leather treatments can create. Great cleaning and keeps the leather very soft and conditioned.

Once that's done, I coated my seats with Gyeon Leather to lock it in and keep blue jeans from staining the seats. It's amazing. No difference in the feel or softness of the leather at all. Just stain and wear resistance.

full-on LOL!!!

I think, the more I look at my "Spheric" leather and "Merino" leather in my M760i, the more I think they have a topcoat of something on them, regardless of the blogs (that are not associated with BMW in any way) saying it is all "Top Grain Leather with no top coat, just dye"

I am thinking that is not true. Also, some further research seems to suggest the "Spheric" colors are at least-- natural materials dyeing them, and not some artificially concocted dye.

I'll take your leather care regimen into consideration. As long as you are saying you use this stuff and it does not ruin it, I trust you.

They absolutely will not harm our leather.
And I have found that once you do a full cleaning, with a leather brush to get into the perforations, and follow it with the leather shield, the seats have that soft, warm, satin look as good as new.

thanks, ordered the Colourlock kit and their brush. Turns out I already have Gyeon and was afraid to use it on nicer stuff. I'll try it out. Thanks.
