I've never really understood where the i8 fits in the world. The power output of it definitely isn't magnificent.

It might not fit the world but that's not a problem of the car |

And it's faster than a E60 V10 and almost as fast as a F10 M or AMG GT, many Ferraris and Astons. Although, that's really not what makes it special. It's simply a modern feeling no other sports car can offer. |

It fits my daily requirements perfectly.
Although, i can't help but think, instead of stopping production in April i think they are missing a trick and as all cars evolve, there is so much they can do to make use of the initial development. It has so much going for it especially as mid engine weight distribution. What do people think of this or what would you propose? V6 engine, two cylinders shut down until sport mode activated producting max 500bhp (don't Bently do that!). Active tuned exhaust and some sound options. Similar normal running economy but with increased range. Nice clear engine cover showing off the engine (AKA R8). Electric opening/close doors (even cooler?) Few styling tweeks (like they usually do, slightly different lights and new wheels). Yes, maybe similar to the Honda NSX but economy with that sort of power would be pretty special |

I would be more than happy with proven 4 cyl turbo. BMW got it right with focus on weight as key to performance.

I'm pretty happy with is as it is.
I guess the 11kw version has all the range it needs (mine is 7kw and thats just a tad short in cold weather (we get that a lot here)). I love the fact that they made it with a small triple. I just hate those anonymous 4cylinders. Theres only really 2 other engines they could have used that would be better, a Inline 6 and a NAv8. Both would be massively heavier, totally killing range and speed for electric mode. So I guess they got it totally right. I just love the looks, really theres very little this side of a Lambo thats even close. For dailydriver its perfect as it really only has one competitior, the 911, and thats positively Ancient in tech. I DO regret they didn't make: A: more tech overload in the cabin/stereo/hybrid toys. B: A i8M version with everything turned up to 11. On that happy note, where do I buy a climate compressor? |
