given that you are on a 50A circuit, yes that is exactly what you should expect to get.
**Edit** I only looked at the number of amps. As mentioned below, 8kW means the voltage seems very low and a 40 A charger should provide closer to 9.5 kW. Last edited by ggalanis; 04-17-2024 at 12:07 PM.. |

Soooo, the one thing that looks sus to my eye is that the car & app both report about 8 kW charge rate. And the app is showing 40A. So, that would suggest that the voltage is only 200V. That seems extremely low.

His math is correct. I only payed attention to the amps when i replied. I didn't think to calculate what the kW output should be at 240 V ... So in theory, a 40A charger can send up to 9.6 kW. Getting only 8kW is indeed a little weird but that might just be the reality of the grid in your area (which is why voltage ratings are usually a range).
This is the type of stuff an electrician can/should check for you. |

I have the Emporia EVSE too. The app displays “monthly peak 15 min demand” which is different from the current rate of delivery which is displayed in the “rate” field in your screenshot. You were charging at 40 AMPS which is where it should be given you have a 50AMP circuit breaker.
The “units of measurement” setting in the app can be set to a variety of units, including watts and amps. You have yours set to amps. If you change to watts, your “rate” field will display current rate of charge in kW. Hope this is helpful. |

Did you have a licensed electrician do the installation with the appropriate permits and inspections? If so, they would probably be the right person to ask.

Also I have read that it’s recommended to have the connections checked once a year to make sure nothing gets loose, Especially with a 14-50 outlet. |
