'22 Brooklyn Grey with Tacora red sensatec i4 eD40, finally got it home
Took a while, not as long as others here but still over 6 months. This would be my 5th custom ordered BMW and typically it would take 2-3months, including wait time for allocation. I know it's not typical times so I'm glad I was even able to get one this year.
Some interesting notes: I asked the dealer to charge to 80%, the dealer stated that they have to charge to min. 90% and even send in a picture to BMW to prove that they did... Hmm okay. When I got the car, it was charged to 100% Oh well what's done is done. My car had 11miles on it. This was about average. In the past some of the custom ordered cars had as much as 21-22 miles. I had one that had less than 10 miles. I'm missing the kick to open feature. On the online tracker this "option" was there and when it went into production it was missing. The window sticker shows that it was deleted and I was credited $100... I asked the dealer to not install the front plate and brought my own tow hook plate mount (Rho-Plate) and installed the temp plates myself. Works well enough. As few others have stated, 100% = 226miles of range. However, after driving 30miles home, it only dropped to 222miles at 92% so I know it will improve as I drive and charge it a few times. I didn't bother sitting down with the BMW "genius" since I was in a bit of a hurry so I Setup my EA account using the method outlined here and it's activated without any issue. I have a pixel 6 pro in a case (Googles basic case) and the phone fits into the wireless charging pad. Just about 1/16" to spare. I wasn't sure if it would fit with the cover. FYI, the dealership is Concord BMW (They have a no mark up above MSRP policy, except for the M5 CS they got which I also really wanted (offered 30K over but they passed, they had another offer of $50K over and also passed on that ) My CA was Lena, she was great as I was being very demanding but she is also my cousin so all was forgiven. While I was at the dealer, I also put my name down for 2025 G99. Hopefully it does come over to the US. Plan now is to wait for my PPF appointment and get the front end PPF. While waiting, I'll remove the wheels, ceramic coat them and due my usual cleaning up after the dealership. The i4 is going to replace my i3 which is a lease and I extended the lease 2 more months so I have some overlap. That and My PPF appointment wont be until next month. Options list: M SPORT PACKAGE PREMIUM PACKAGE PARKING ASSISTANCE PACKAGE SHADOWLINE PACKAGE Adaptive M Suspension Drive Recorder Harman Kardon surround sound Icon Adaptive LED w/Laserlight Iconic Sounds Electric Live Cockpit Pro (incl. Navi) Wireless Device Charging Here are some pics: I left the dealership with the rear headrests up and had a hell of a time seeing what's behind me. First thing I did when I got home was lower those suckers This last pic is of the ship that carried my i4 from Bremmerhaven to Long Beach. This was taken as it was exiting the last lock at Panama Canal Last edited by note46; 08-12-2022 at 04:15 PM.. Reason: added options list |

Congrats! Mine’s basically your twin with the extra motor added up front.
The dealer said they couldn’t deliver my car until it hit 100% and showed no codes. My CA and a service tech waited a good 30 min or so after closing until it was finished, from there they were able to scan the key to close it out and hand it over.

Without going to a real M car, I would want the lighter lower powered car having better handling if I could, I feel that's more of the enthusiasts' route rather than slapping a bigger engine (or additional motor) in the same car. Ultimately, the M50 was also what became available to me first (aside form a complete stripper of an e40 a different dealer reached out on).
