Alpha tauri is launching on Monday, do you guys think it will be another model car just covered up or will they be launching the real deal?

I think it was stupid for redbull not to launch their real car after Haas launched a partial decoy, because all the attention could have been on them especially since they won the drivers championship last year. Instead they launched a model with the same livery scheme and all the attention went to Aston martin who launched a real car the day after and then followed it up with a shake down test the following day.

It's all about secrecy, there's no way a world champion's car can be launched 'full on' for the enemy to see what they've got, I would be doing exactly the same in Horner's shoes.

They should launch it but cover up some details. Look at what Mercedes does, in 2020 they launched the w11 but didn't film the new rear suspension. In 2021 they launched but didn't show the floor. Yet this approach didn't cost them anything. Just hide the sensitive areas, but they opted to not show anything. It could be due to the fact they failed crash testing and still haven't fixed it.

Speaking of regulations, I've been trying to educate myself regarding engine sizes over the decades.

From brutish V12 to tiny but sophisticated 1.6 liters.

Well not from what I read which said mercedes passed in jan. But again it is all speculation. I would say merc launches a real car because their track record has been to do such a thing, but just hide key areas. The only team truly launching a fake car is RB lol. So projection again?

They're trying to match what is commonly seen on street cars to make f1 relevant. Hence the E10 fuel regulations because most of the world if I am not mistaken has some bio fuel mandate, in north america it happens to be E10 (unless you are buying from some specific brands - in Canada shell 91 and chevron 94 doesn't have ethanol).

Correct. I use Shell V-Power exclusively in my X3 and RT.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating,(meaning wait until quali and race) any team can launch their car anytime and cover up the key areas, in a way it's still launching a car incognito.

I mean I was just saying it would be smarter to do an incognito launch and drum up massive press for more sponsor deals than reveal nothing. You could show the side pods for instance or the nose area (minus the wing), not much people can do to copy that without knowing the flow fields around these areas. So to cover this up put a fake floor without strakes, and a basic wing. The entire car concept is still there minus the key areas for instance.

Or be like Aston martin and release the whole thing. Sure some small things might be changed by race day as they learned their design but it will be an improvement on what is already seen so they aren't decieving anyone. At this stage I doubt much can be copied from simple videos anyways. The chassis is homologated now, suspension is too. The only thing that can be copied easily is the wings and what little of the floor they can see. And even then without being able to copy the side pods etc it will not be effective to just copy those few parts that are permitted to be modified during the season because they will not work the same way in a different car's flow field without the other parts that are locked in also upgraded.

With Mercs domination for so long since '14, RBR are taking no chances and not giving an iota of info to the others and why should they.
Remember the sham removal of Max's car when it stopped on the track in practice at San Marino, instead of being brought back to the pits via the track it was displayed through the town on a low loader with everyone including Merc viewing and taking pictures of the car underneath before it was returned back tp RB.

Screw the attention!!! Give NO hints or secrets away! I'd launch as late as time allows.

The mid-field teams need to launch now to get any publicity. The heavy hitters get it all once the season starts.

If you developed innovations who took years of research and hard work , and cost hundreds of millions ...
You would just give it away ?

HAM's 2021 Rocket Warp-Speed Grenade is still in 2022 top-secret !

Probably you think that Mercedes will show the real deal ?

If you can't even show portions of the car it shows how little confidence you have in your design, and car concept. The cars are too far developed as of now and changes can't be made to the side pod regions and crash structures any more as there simply isn't enough time nor wind tunnel time to reengineer everything before it's locked in. So if you can't even show those areas that are locked in you really don't have confidence in your design. It is what it is, some teams tend to be super secretive.

That has nothing to do with a controlled press release...
