Many countries are starting from a different point. For example, they aren't in a situation where it is estimated there are more guns than people in their country. What do you do then when guns outnumber people? Those bad guns could stage a coup and take over the country!!

But seriously - what? It is one thing to work from a position where there is far less guns than people...can slowly pare them down even further over time. But you guys? Nah. It isn't happening, you've reached critical mass.

With those numbers, one has to remember that the US has 10x our population.

It's easier to find per 100,000.

I think the golden statistic under strict gun controls is the big reduction in suicides. It does make sense less guns probably translates into less suicides but then we're still doing nothing about our mental illness problem. The stigma related to it and limited treatment options especially for those with limited access or finances.

You can be charged with second degree murder (...a Watson filing) should you kill somebody while you are driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, street racing, etc.

My personal fave is getting hit by someone when you're under the influence then getting arrested for DWI. Almost happened to me but I think middle aged white privilege stepped in and they said "it wasn't your fault so just be more careful next time".

Thanks for explaining that to me! Sometimes the meaning of lyrics are not obvious, and I am a bit of a literalist.

That does occur sometimes, but at least you weren't the primary cause of the accident.
