This was a bit bigger picture, and in response to LB, folks using "Lived experiences" as main source. If your source is 300 interactions, different than my block in NY has a concert, so therefore NY as a whole isn't a shit show.

Less LEO, less bail, less prosecution, must be Covid

We can cute, or we can try to understand the stats.

"Four of California’s major cities—Los Angeles, Oakland, San Diego, and San Francisco—have seen a notable rise in homicides and car thefts, even while violent and property crimes overall remain below pre-pandemic levels."

I can't imagine 'bail reform' affected only homicides & car theft, but not other violent crimes. Must be something else in the mix.

Put this back into context, without the gratuitous insults, pls.
"Progressive activist" could be replaced with lil' Q-tee, and the main point about "lived experiences" being sad excuses for stats still stands.

ummm you know a shit load of criminals (mostly "non" violent") were let out last year, cause covid

You also know (esp. in tough job year) the chances of repeating are extremely high. and 45K of them didn't return after probation period, add in 20K illegal criminals released in 2020, and my above, there is little to nada dissuading them. Jack a car, no bail and many released immediately. Where's incentive ?

it wasn't only bail reform, but it was apart of it.

No article was pointing to you and one lived view on said subject, can't compare that to someone that does it 50+ hours a week for years, thats a clearly different level of observation. It wasn't cute, you are clearly progressive.

Cheers, we can pull up before trolling gets THIS thread deleted

"The New York Post looked over the city's data of 528 shooting incidents from the start of the year through the end of June. Only one person who had been released on bail under these bail reforms has been charged with a shooting, according to the NYPD's own data."

Covid releases are another story, and will have to wait!

Bail reform has affected it all. That's what I'm trying to explain to you. Your propensity to rely solely on some online stats is the problem. All violent assaults are up. Assaults with deadly weapons are up. Property crimes are up. Bail reform matters because something like vehicle theft, for example, is often a cite out versus a jail stay. You are pointless. You will not listen.

That's why the NYPD, and others, aggregate such info, from all officers, not just one.

You do know there's a way to manipulate statistics, right?! You do realize this happens all of the time, right?!? You do realize things are reported a certain way to appease city/county officials, help with political thrust, procure grant money from the state, etc., right?!?

Obviously you are pretty clueless if you believe the black & white statistics are always true & just.

"Violent crime in these four cities (Los Angeles, Oakland, San Diego, and San Francisco) dropped notably in March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. It then rose, reaching pre-pandemic levels in the fall. Since then, violent crime has declined. In January and February 2021, violent crime was about 12% lower compared to the same time period in 2020."

"Property crime in these four major cities fell by 17%, when comparing the first two months in 2020 to the same time period in 2021. This was driven by a significant (34%) drop in larcenies...."

Or we can listen to only you.

It's okay. The regulars and the casual observers see right through you.

In other news….

….we caught the serial criminal responsible for the rape of a 70 year old woman a few weeks ago. He burglarized multiple homes, robbed someone at gunpoint and committed the rape…..all in one night. We are glad we got him off the streets.
