Production Complete, Awaiting carrier according to hotline. Knowing that status can lag 24-48 hours it, best case scenario, it's on a train/truck to Bremerhaven, worst case, it's sitting waiting on a train/truck. If the stars align, it might arrive at the dealer by the middle of Sept. Excitement building.

Carac, depending on where you live, your car and mine may end up on the same ship. Mine is also awaiting the carrier, and having talked to the BMWUSA rep to confirm status, they indicated that awaiting carrier means it is at the port awaiting loading on to a ship, at which point the status will be changed to en route.

Checking the Wallenius and Wilhemsen web site ( http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche…countryList.do), the next ship to depart Bremerhaven for Port Hueneme (California port of entry) departs August 23 and arrives September 17. From that point, it's estimated to be another week or so before it is at the dealer and prepped for pick up by the customer. If you're not on the west coast, you can check the W&W site for other ships departing Bremerhaven for other ports of entry in the U.S.

BTW, if my car arrives at the port on Sept. 17 and I were to pick it up one week later (Sept. 24), it would be exactly one year to the day after I placed my deposit.

My port will likely be Baltimore. Should be a three hour truck drive down to my dealership. So I'm probably looking at the Integrity or Tulane, which would mean Sept 6th or 8th in Baltimore then (assuming they don't need to do much at VPC), my dealership sometime the week of the 8th. If it's not those two, the next boat would arrive the 16th. We'll see.

Also, part of my agreement for MSRP when I made the deposit was that they get to keep it in the showroom for a week to show vetted prospective buyers. They have a literal velvet rope and have a strict look don't touch policy for anyone but deposit holders. And even they can only open it and look around. No sitting.

What are they saying your completion date is?

Mine was "August 27th" and finished early this week, QC took a day, awaiting carrier right now.

How exciting. Several others of us to follow in the coming month, but sounds like you will be the first on this blog to get one. Be sure to post pics. BTW, what are the specs on your car?

Same spec as mine, but I have to wait until January for delivery in So. California, USA :-( Went out and just bought a new Boxster GTS to help fill the 5-6 month void!

Leads more credence to the idea that i8 completion estimates were pessimistic guesses. They just didn't know how fast they could build them yet. Nice to see it's going better than they expected.

Just FYI, I dropped my X5 off at the local dealer today for routine servicing, and while waiting for my loaner car, I got into a conversation with the service advisor. When he asked about my next car and I told him I have an i8 on order, the sales manager, who was nearby, perked up and asked what I was paying for it. When I told him MSRP, his jaw dropped. He went on to say that they will be getting one car, and not until December. They will be asking MSRP + $100K for the car and he expects they will get it.

I'm interested to hear if drlonline's car has moved to the port yet. It will give me a timeline on when to expect mine to get there as well. There are two boats leaving for Baltimore on this coming Sunday and Monday that my car might get on if it gets there in time. The next one is two weeks from Wednesday on the 3rd.

Mine is still "waiting to be released to the carrier" per the hotline message. When I spoke to a BMWNA rep, they indicated this meant the car was at the port, but had not yet been handed over to the shipping company. The car finished production on Aug. 6., and it sounds like it just missed going on a ship that departed Bremerhaven on Aug. 8. According to the W&W web site, the next ship leaving there for Port Hueneme (California port of entry) doesn't depart until Aug. 23 and arrives in Ca. on Sept. 18, so I'm expecting delivery by Sept. 24 or so.

Carac, with any luck, I would think yours should make it on to that next Baltimore ship. It appears that ships going to the east coast depart more frequently than those for the west coast. Next thing we'll all be checking is the weather forecast for the North Atlantic.
