Extended Warranty in US
I have a 2015 with 11,000 miles. Warranty expires in July 2019. BMW wants $6,400, $7,400 and $8,400 for an extra one, two and three years of warranty. This seems absurdly expensive. No third parties are offering extended warranties. Any suggestions? Take a chance that nothing major will go wrong that’s not covered? What do you think it’s worth in trade against a new i8 Roadster and what is the appropriate discount on the new one?
Thanks. Last edited by RDSChicago; 12-26-2018 at 10:55 PM.. |

I also have a 2015 with about 9,000 miles. It’s CPO and good until March, 2020. I went to my local BMW dealer last week to check into extending the coverage and was quoted even higher prices than you were. You said there are no third partiy warranties? I was offered one earlier this year by a local used car dealership that only deals in performance cars and they quoted me considerably less than BMW but I really don’t know how aftermarket warranties compare to the manufacturer’s. I was warned not to do that by the BMW finance guy but i’m not sure if he was being honest or just pushing the BMW extended warranty. I don’t know if want to own this car without a warranty though I may change my mind. There don’t seem to be too many horror stories.
