First Service Question UK

Hi guys, cars coming up to two years old soon, so first service time. How far in advance of the due date should BMW dealer get in touch to get you booked in (UK dealers that is)? Do they get the message the same time that I do via the car?

TIA!

The dealer never got in touch with me, I just booked it in directly via the app.

Thanks, did you get the service due message before you booked, or did you pre-empt it? With every other car i've had i tend to get in there early, but thought this car might be smarter....

The car is smart.... the dealers aren't.

Never got a call from my dealer to book me in.

My servicing has been free to date.

I'm curious though - how much is an i8 normal service from an official dealer?

(Asking because it was too £££ for my i3, which doesn't even have an engine )

Think its annual unless you do a lot of miles. Hopefully, the car takes into consideration the hours the IC has been on although there doesn’t appear to be a method to display that info.
The service schedule is toughly 16Kmiles from memory or annual – whichever comes first. First service £300 ish. Every 2nd service is a biggy. My 32Kmile was about £1k. (they change some belts, the sparkplugs (Oooooo all 3!) and the door springs although mine were fine.)

I noticed the sparkplug change the most with a noticeable increase in poke!

Looking forward to when there are a few i8 servicing specialists set up, as servicing a 3cyl mini engine is not rocket science.

My 32k service is coming up so I went to the garage to ask the potential price (best to be prepared) and they told me that the previous keeper had a service plan that was still valid so my service would be free! Well chuffed!
