This isn't LinkedIn though.

Context matters. Discussing salaries on a car forum is as tacky as discussing M3s on LinkedIn is pointless.

You have a point. Probably not the best place for such a discussion.

Lucky you guys that live there. I tried to, once a long time ago.
What you’re making is a more accurate income for a doctor. What US doctors make is absurd and part of the reason our healthcare is fucked up. Plus most go into a medicine as a business to make money and not because of internal desire or calling to help people

you realize no one is going to ever become a physician if they have to take on 250-400k in debt with undergraduate and medical school loans only to come out making sub 100k in the US.

That’s part of the same problem I’ve mentioned. Obtaining medical degree should not cost that kinda money. Only in US

I haven't posted my income in here and wouldn't but people are free to discuss whatever they want. If you don't want to participate then don't. Telling people what they shouldn't be talking about comes off as pretty arrogant.

I am of Indian descent and if you're British you should know that it's perfectly normal to discuss how much you make. That's 1.4 billion people in the world who openly discuss salary. Just saying... your tiny country does not decide what is "classy" for the entire world, despite how many countries you may have once subjugated.

My student loan payment is 3500. 1 million dollars of debt with interest given by the government at a super low (sarcasm) rate of 7%. Down to 650K after I refinanced but still same payment for less number of years. I make 2200 per shift. I admit 10 patients per shift. Those 10 patients made 100k for the hospital the night I admitted them and 100k every night thereafter. You're saying I don't deserve 2K out of the 100k the hospital will make? I'm 2% of the cost. You think physician salaries are the problem in the US healthcare system. Buddy, you have no idea lol.

It's funny when I was in high school, I thought If I just make 50k a year I would be fine…the things you don't think about, health insurance, taxes, 401k and kids. The more money you make, the more you have a tendency to spend. Which is fine as long as you're saving as well, it's amazing how much work your money can do for you if you just had some. It's like having another or a better job that makes more money than what you make but yet physically you don't have to do a thing.

I know several acquaintances (super nice people) they had hellcats but were younger than me by 5-10 years. One lived in an apartment while the others house was barley worth more than his Hellcat. One of them leased, while the other bought it. Thats not the financial choices I would personally make. However, my life priorities are different from them. They seem happy, so who am I to judge.
As I’ve said before you sleep in your car but you can’t drive a house.

While I’m not a Dr. I have many friends & family that are surgeons. It’s a stressful and often brutal and grueling path with massive potential liability. Many are in there late 50’s and still work crazy hours. Yes they do well but they’ve been working their asses off for decades. I know I couldn’t do it.

I'm not a surgeon but I see them first hand busting their asses day in and day out and I believe they deserve every penny they earn. I couldn't do it either.

"You may have once subjugated".

You do realise I'm not personally responsible for the British Raj? It ended thirty years before I was born.

Wow! My my perspective, I think we are lucky we have people that still want to go into the medical field so thank you. Everyone I knew who was a doctor did it because they love the field not because $ was their motivation. Case in point.

Agree, have had no money grubbing issues with the doctors my family & I have used. Like anything there are exceptions but I don't believe people go into the medical profession just for the money.

If you have the smarts to become a doctor there are too many other fields to make money in without the huge front end cost in both time & money.

As for salaries in general, there are exceptions, but most people get paid what their worth. Some might not like what they are paid but thats life. If they are worth more than they are getting paid its time to move on to a new employer.

FWIW for a subject that is tacky & should not be here according to some it already has 7,300+ hits. Think thats well above average.
