My MY18 i3S no longer displays traffic information. What am I missing here?

Trial period for "free" RTTI has expired, now BMW NA will try to make you pay $$$ to renew annually.

I always found BMW Nav annoyingly inferior to Google Maps.
The latter is free ;-)

Really? When does it expire and how long was it free for? I don't think I ever got any notice about an option to pay. I have a 17 so it must have expired by now then.

Though you're right, the built-in traffic was pretty useless. I use Waze for real-time updates.

I am not 100% sure, but assume it's 12 months, since I lost my on my MY'17 earlier this year.

Interestingly, I found a way to code it back in, for free, so the traffic colors are still displayed on the map. The RTTI data, however, is not used in calculating routs by BMW nav unless you pay them (and they push an SSL cert over the air).

Yep, anything beats BMW Nav.
It always defaults to invading Poland....

I am interested in how you coded the ability to see traffic colors on the navigation map. Please PM me the details. Thanks in advance!

On newer cars (not sure about MY), CarPlay is supported iff you pay an annual ransom to BMW NA.

Android Auto is, sadly, not supported on any BMWs.
