"That's a wrap" - the color accent, that is

Gave my car a good elbow-grease waxing today, and noticed that the blue accent looks like a plastic wrap. Discovered a corner in the rear that looks like a dead giveaway (unable to post picture at the moment - it seems whatever I do, I'm still outside the file size limits). Hope it's not just my car, and the dealer pulled a fast one to get me a car according to my specs.

So, those of you who are tired of your color accents, you may just be able to peel it off. Not sure what's underneath, though ...

That's crazy if it's just a wrap. Keep us updated I want to see pictures or video.

I thought they were plastic body parts not wraps . If they are wraps then these still must be the finest looking ones (gusto related )

Looking more closely, it seems like the accent panel and the black rear panel are one piece. Which, for the manufacturer, narrows it down to painting or wrapping, I guess.

Pull on it. See what happens. (I have light and dark gray. I'd like to get rid of the light gray.)

Looks like paint protection film, I had several areas where I removed it, including the accents, as I got my i8 straight from the port. Probably trapped in a clip.

I doubt it's a wrap since I know someone who had them wrapped from blue to light grey and then to black. They would have not wrapped over a wrap, they would have to remove it first and I know the accents were still blue after the first wrap.

The black part is not wrapped. That's sheer plastic. But the accent color sure seems to be foil. Or what am I seeing?

Isn't that usually white or clear?

And there are no clips there. The picture was taken at the very bottom of the rear accent, right-hand side.

Looking at the seam, my eyes are telling me the black is overlaid atop the blue. So perhaps the black glossy surface is a wrap, and the exposed areas beneath are blue?

It looks more like painters tape. Most likely there might have been a scratch or defect and they probably tried spraying the area but didn't do a good job removing the tape. I had my car wrapped and it's definitely not wrapped. Car was in pieces to wrap correctly.

It's not. The blue is raised. And pretty sturdy. Tried prying gently with a box cutter, but couldn't get it to budge. Didn't want to try harder and risk leaving a mark.

No tape. And the edge between the black and blue is too high to be paint. It would have to be 10 layers or something.
