1st day with i8, quick question about sport mode

I finally just picked up my i8! Quick question, I'm not able to put it into sport mode—does it need to be fully charged first to do that? I was under the impression that you can put it in sport when battery is dead to charge it up..please let me know, hoping this is normal and nothing is wrong with it!

What happens when you put the car in gear and push the gear selector to the left? As far as I know it should always go into sport mode regardless of battery charge level.

Ahhh I'm dumb, I thought it was done by the comfort/eco pro button, I will go try the moving gear selector to the left right now! Thanks for the help!

First vehicle with Steptronic? You can use either, but depends on how vehicle is coded.

So, were you successful when you "tried" to move the gear shift knob to the left?
