PSA: adjust your tailgate height

For those who don’t regularly park in parking garages or areas with low ceilings, you can adjust the height your tailgate opens. The default height is significantly higher than the roofline of the car, and may hit a structure causing some paint damage.

How do you adjust the opening?

From the manual:

When adjusting the opening height, make sure the clearance above the tailgate is at least 4 in/10 cm.
1. "MENU"
2. "Vehicle apps"
3. "Doors and windows"
4. "Tailgate"
5. "Opening height"
6. Monitor the tailgate and set the desired opening height.

Every BMW SAV I've owned has a pretty similar function (for the X7):
