I think the M60 cruiser guy recently did something with spacers. Maybe he can chime in.

Spacers are generally not a great idea though not unsafe provided they are periodically checked and retorqued.. By moving wheels out from the original geometry, additional stresses are placed on suspension parts. I’ve used them with success on a Jeep…though premature ball joint failure resulted.
On something like the IX with a refined suspension I would personally avoid spacers. I might add that installation of spacers would likely void your warranty on anything related to the suspension or steering. If leasing your lease agreement will prohibit such modifications. |

The above video is about spacing out your stock wheels.
My application is different. I used adapters to put 5 x 127 10 x 20 Jeep SRT wheels with a 50+ offset and 265/50/20 tires in place of the 5 x 112 9 x 21 37 offset BMW wheels. The 1" wider Jeep wheel goes in 1/2 inch 13mm more (50 vs 37mm) and is spaced out 25.4 mm with the front adapters and 19 mm on the back. Here is the back BMW And the Back Jeep 1" wider wheel Front BMW Front and rear Jeep So far the BMW rides very nice with the Jeep wheels and if I should have problems I can just put the BMW wheels back on and take it to the dealer. I mostly drive my Tesla Model S Plaid with 1020 hp and can afford to take chances with the BMW I paid cash for. The 1 " wider Jeep light weight forged aluminum wheels are pretty well centered on the hubs so they won't put much if any extra load on the suspension. |

You won’t feel any difference and range is more a function of tires unless the spacers cause tires to stick out from the fender flares…but there are indeed stresses that were not there before the spacers. I doubt you’ll find very many BMW suspension specialists who would be supportive of spacers. That said, forums are a great place to share ideas and opinions… your money, your choice!
