Why comment on a thread specifically designated to help someone get an iX?

Questions:

Why did you list only these brokers out of all the ones that you contacted?

How did you decide where to do your test drives?

Did you find any rating of either brokers or dealers?

Many brokers are regional so you will want to find some close to you. leasehackr’s marketplace is a good spot to start. You can also find review threads on leasehackr.

Do the test drive wherever is convenient to you that also has the cars you are interested in available to drive.

Broker ratings can be found on leasehackr or there are a few that seem to be trusted on here as well (who also have a presence on LH)

I listed the 2 brokers who gave me the best deals in or around California for the custom builds, and both were responsive and easy to talk to. If other forum members want to recommend other brokers, please post here and I'm happy to mention in the initial post.

For test drives, my selection wasn't scientific: I picked locations that were convenient, and double-checked that Google Maps ratings are good.

Didn't check broker ratings, but I assume all brokers that have been on leasehackr are not going to screw you over. And I was going to use my Amex card to pay them. Amex has great policy for any kind of fraud protection, so if anything at all goes wrong I could always do a chargeback. Of course ended up not needing this, as my current dealer didn't even ask for a deposit.

TIP: to find out what the current lease conditions (Money Factor aka MF, Residual Value aka RV, and Lease Incentives) are offered by BMW FS in your region and for your exact model, check this thread on Edmunds, or ask if there is no recent information.

As of early September, 2023, Money Factor (MF, aka "buy rate") for all iX model leases is 0.00111. iX50 has higher residual values, starting at 54% for the cheapest lease (36 months, 7500 miles per year). M60 or more miles per year will have lower residuals, naturally resulting in higher payments. All leases get $9900 lease credits, which are handled as taxed incentive. These values haven't changed since early July, 2023.

If the dealer is offering higher MF than the buy rate, they're making extra money on you, and you should take this into account. Some dealers prefer to mark up MF but give you higher discount to compensate.

I haven't seen variation between different regions or zip codes for MF or residuals, but that doesn't mean they won't show up in future.

You can also get the lease numbers directly from the BMW website offers:

Another tip for everyone:

If you get 9-10%+ off the car, don't start asking for free stuff like all-weather floor mats.

They are truly making nothing on you on these days if not losing money depending on what their hard costs are associated with delivering a car.

Asking for floor mats or other extras, while a small amount monetarily, feel like a slap in the face when you have a bottomed out deal, it's not about the money, it's about respect, and I have personally seen people with insane deals get shown the door because they asked for more at the last minute.

Just remember, dealer employees are people too.

You're wording this like the freebies come from the sales persons' pockets. Is that the case? I mean, if it's the dealership paying the bill I don't see how asking for freebies is an issue.

I honestly I am not sure how I could elaborate further past what I said. I feel like I explained it pretty well.

For the record, it's not an issue if you're the average car buyer and not getting an insane deal, but if you're doing one of these deals that is totally bottomed out, that's a different story.

Do you think a hat/tshirt/hoodie is in the same ballpark, or is it different from parts? I could imagine merch has higher margins and significant PR angle, but agree with you that pushing a dealer too much might backfire in a couple of ways.

Having said that, for a custom order you're probably safer. Can't imagine a dealer would want to be stuck with your custom car, even if they're pissed.

Honestly I agree with smithf80 here. If you are really at a no margin deal it’s just insulting to nickel and dime for some cheap freebies. I’d much rather get a bottom dollar deal and go out and buy a shirt myself, rather than have the dealer to find some other way to make you pay for that shirt.

Also what’s the obsession with getting free floor mats? The car comes with mats and if you are leasing, which almost everyone is doing, why does anyone need ugly rubber mats? The car is gojng back in 3 years anyways. The carpet mats clean up fine if you get mud on them. Heck I’ve spilled spicy oily food all over cloth mats on a prior car and cleaned it up just fine.

Signed one at 12% off pre-incentive at base MF. Just an ok deal in my local area. Asked for all weather mat but did not get.
If dealership losing money at iXs, they should stop taking allocations and stick at MSRP.
One dealership at my local area have 100+ iX stock+in transit so they can still make something at 10-15% off

That is not just an okay deal, that is a hard loss and a deal that 99.9% of people will not get, I am not sure why you believe 12% with no money factor markup and a low doc fee is "just okay" when all data available actually says its better than average.

Something tells me that it's not that easy. BMW is likely forcing allocations of iX if they want to get allocation for other cars that do make money.

No business wants to lose money, even in tech it's becoming less and less normal. And it does look like at over 10-11% off MSRP, they're losing money on the sale. The only reason they would do that is not to lose even more money on storage, detailing, and deprecation of that car.

Similarly, BMW is likely losing money making iX at this point. They treat it as a necessary loss to enter the EV market so that the company doesn't go out of business the second California, New York, EU, and China start prohibiting, or heavily decentivizing, ICE sales in their jurisdictions.

I don’t have so much time so reached 5 dealerships within 30 mins drive. 4 of them agreed to offer 10% at the first call for further negotiation. Made 12% off offer the second day to close the deal the same day and 3 dealerships accepted sooner or later.
Closed the deal with the one with my preferred packages/options, also the one match the highest trade in offer

Understood, that’s why dealership stock 10-20 units i7 and XM even with very low sale.
That’s BMW issue and they should cover dealership loss if any.
Actually, etrons and EQs all available at high discount/rebate. The sticker set overvalued…Will grab a few more when deal available
