When should I expect my car?
I'm looking up production timelines but most of the posts I'm finding are old. Has anyone recently ordered an iX? My car is expected to begin production week 8. I'm wondering when I should expect it at my dealer. I only care because I'm moving from NYC and would really like to have a car when I arrive in Indy at the end of March!

Ordered my car day before thanksgiving and was completed and QC’d by 12/12 and sitting at a dock in Germany ever since waiting to be loaded.
Really depends on timing and getting to the dock with a ship waiting for your car to be loaded. |

My rough estimates of what you should anticipate for each step. These are the optimistic times, if everything goes perfectly. You can spend weeks inexplicably in any of the steps (except at sea).

Good rational timing plan was just laid out for you. Yet considering Murthy’s law and the amazing amount of us who had a least one unexpected delay along the way, if me I would add to weeks to what one thinks/hopes — and that is when most of us got ours (not even counting the whole last year stop sale for the interior trim pieces being MIA).
My own iX which fortunately skipped around the stop sale (so lucky) was all along supposed to arrive on Dec 8th. Then reality and a ton of little short timing delay things hit. What did we get it? Yep, Dec. 22nd, e.g. exactly two weeks after it was supposed to. |

Hoping they are building & the logistics are moving expeditiously in this new year. Our order was accepted a few days before NYE. Would love to be driving it in early April.

I should have commented that these are the optimistic timeframes. I will edit my post. The wait is forever. I was stuck in the stop sale and was over 5 months.

Received VIN number, production scheduled for first week of Feb.
I added Driving Assistance Professional to the build after a bunch of soul searching. I don't generally like to automate the driving function, and I truly enjoy keeping it smoothe & on my preferred & optimal line, whether 2 wheels or 4 or rudder & airlerons. Will see how it goes. The new tech is enticing. |

Also thought that we could add it later on through the ConnectedDrive store if we really wanted to, but further research and talking to our fellow forumers revealed that the post-hoc version was more limited in functionality than the full-on DAPP: - DAPlus does not have hands-free Highway Assist. While you get very similar functions (ACC, Stop & Go, Speed Limit Assistant, Lane Keep Assistant, Steering Assistant) to that in DAPro, your hands will need to always be on the steering wheel. DAPro allows for actual hands-free driving on freeways up to 85 mph, except for when the camera senses that your eyes aren't looking straight ahead. - DAPlus does not have Parking Assistant Pro. With the Premium package, you get Parking Assistant Plus, but not Pro. You can add Pro separately via the ConnectedDrive store. - DAPlus does not have Traffic Jam Assistant (also hands-free). TJA only works on mapped highways with slow-moving traffic up to 40 mph. We eventually decided to go for DAPP. After having spent just a few days with DAPP on our iX, I sincerely echo what the folks on here have been saying - DAPP is one of those things you won’t know you need until you have and use it, and then you’ll never want a car without it again. - Not having to have your feet constantly in throttle/brake positions really makes a big difference, be it in highway or city driving. - The acceleration, steering and braking are usually extremely smooth, even with drivers cutting into your lane. The experience is generally not jerky nor abrupt. - Being able to stretch your limbs every 20-30 mins without stepping out of the car is also awesome. - And it’s better at maintaining safe distances and keeping in lanes than I typically am. So, I don’t think you’ll regret your decision to add DAPP. One caveat though - the first time I used highway assistant with my partner in the passenger seat, she got pretty nervous as she didn’t (and still doesn’t) trust the system to do hands-free driving safely, and she much preferred that I keep my hands on the wheel. I can imagine it being pretty unnerving for someone in the passenger seat, at highway speeds. But as with most things, YMMV! |

(Status) 112 - 12/29/23 - Ordered 150 - 1/11 - Scheduled for production, received VIN 151 - 1/23 @ 12:30 pm - Exterior assembly 152 - 1/24 @ 1 am - Paint booth 153 - 1/24 @ 10 pm - Enter assembly line 154 - 1/25 @ 4 am - Assembly in progress 155 - 1/25 @ 9:30 am - Quality check 182 - 1/25 @ 11:30 am - Carrier assigned 190 - 1/26 @ 5:30 am - Dispatched from factory 193 - 1/28 @ 10:30 pm - At the port 195 - 2/2 - In Transit (West Coast). Didn’t show up in tracker until 3am on 2/5. As you can see, the process is extremely fast right now. I got incredibly lucky, only 4 days at port. I really feel for the people still waiting for a boat. Last edited by FirstEV; 02-05-2024 at 12:29 PM.. Reason: Update |
