BMW i4 AC Schnitzer Concept Police Car on display at BMW Welt

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
As part of the Tune It! Safe! campaign in Germany, the BMW i4 AC Schnitzer Concept Police Car is shown here on display at BMW Welt.

Quote:
With the BMW i4 by AC Schnitzer in the original police outfit, the initiative for safe tuning combines sporty performance and electrifying dynamics. The basis for the new TUNE IT! SAFE! campaign vehicle is provided by the BMW Group with the BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupé. The Aachen tuning specialists AC Schnitzer ensure the driving dynamics and visual refinement. In Sport Boost mode, two BMW M eDrive engines develop 400 kW/544 hp of power, enabling the all-wheel drive to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The top speed is reached at 225 km/h.

On this basis, AC Schnitzer builds individual and tailor-made building blocks for sporty performance. With a suspension spring set, a lowering of approx. 20 to 25 mm can be achieved on both axles. There is also an extensive aerodynamic kit. The FlowForming AC4 in black/bicolor is used as the alloy wheel set. These are paired with Hankook's UHP Ventus S1 evo 3 tyre. The official police foil decor used by FOLIATEC.com as well as the special signaling system "RTK 7" and flashing beacons brought in by Hella also ensure increased attention .

How can this car chase anyone when it will run out of battery as soon as he steps on the accelerator

Just have to instruct perps that chases can only be under 50 miles and at speeds not exceeding 120 mph. As long as they observe that they will be caught every time.

Upside: at least police cars will not be idling everywhere just to power their onboard electronic equipment.
Downside: having only 20% battery left when "the call" comes in.

😀

Edit:

Police chief: "Listen up people! This winter, to keep the charge in our EVs when we need it for bad guys, we need to preserve batteries. So, here are your official police blankets to use. Make sure you turn the car off and bundle up."

Fully agree. The wheels design for example hasn‘t evolved over the last 30yrs - same for most of their exterior styling.

If the police are yelling to the speeder "Think about what you are doing to the environment!!", surely that will help end chases with gas powered cars to avoid that issue.

This is about as practical of a police car as a motorcycle is for a Home Depot visit.

The ICE car we’ve been told just can’t breath without them (mhm), but this vehicle is electric. That’s some real commitment to ugly right there BMW.
I asked the same question in a similar thread last year, also about a police concept, and got a reply of “well, you know there’s sensors in there”. hmmm, I thought: “sensors”? for what? an Aegis System?
whatever the excuse, hard to believe it had to look like the grills from a T-72.

I can imagine it would be great for sneaking up on bad guys. Deadly silence and then POW zap them with 800V!

Everything they offer is overpriced to the max, so they still make big profit. They have never been very interesting since their start but they had brand recognition in Europe and Middle East.
By the way, I agree with previous comments about battery limitations.
