A small (but annoying) software bug
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Does anyone else experience this problem? It will help to know if this is a bug in this software version or something specific to my car, so if your iX runs the 11/2022.44 version and you can try to replicate this issue it will be appreciated. |

I don’t have this issue on 11/2022.44. I would suggest rebooting iDrive manually to see if that helps retain the setting. To perform this procedure, the car must be started and in park. Press the volume button straight down and hold it for at least 30 seconds and then IDrive will reboot. Note, if you do this while your vehicle is not started, the display will just turn off in a few seconds.

The deeper reboot worked for a few days, but now the system reverts again to "Acoustic warning" every time I start the car. Weird...

I have this same issue on my profile, has reset to On multiple times once I turn it off. My wife’s profile does not have the same phantom reset… this leaves me scratching my head!

Just as with the mysteries of the Universe, there are many arcane mysteries to iDrive 8. If your profile is synched currently up to your BMW account somewhere in the BMW ether (because this will save considerable hassle when you restore it), one rule-out is to delete your profile in the car and re-add it after several minutes. It should restore all of your settings (well, most, and you should check them), and may eliminate hidden "ghost" settings that your local iD8 stores in its tiny dinosaur brain, thinking that something it does is something you want to do. Like chicken soup, couldn't hurt.

Have you checked and seen if you are always logged in under the same BMW ID each time? I had a similar issue with a different setting, and then I realized that sometimes the iDrive logged me as a guest and reset all the preferences.

Yeah I had that issue the first week of ownership because I didn’t have the “Phone key” set to automatically connect to my ID. But it still happens when I’m in the right ID
